Open Alchohol and Consumption on Disney Transportation?

I am old fashioned too and I guess we'll find out when we go visit in 8 days. At one point I thought Disney didn't serve any alcohol in their parks except for Epcot. Has that changed? My husband's side of the family has a sad history of alcohol addiction. We are teaching the kids that alcohol is bad for them.

Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios have also always served alcohol. One thing we enjoy is a beer while out, so at MK we will go to Epcot or a monorail resort in the afternoon if we want a drink (only the MK didn't ever serve until BOG opened, and they only serve at dinner).

Excessive alcohol is bad for you, but moderate drinking is a personal choice. Lots of stuff at Disney is unhealthy though. Obesity is dangerous, but lots of folks are overweight at Disney and everywhere in the US. And my DD (who is skinny) has been allowed to have a funnel cake for dinner once at Disney! We bend the rules there just a teensy bit

It isn't terribly common to see folks acting drunk at Disney really. Not so much as many other places. When a drink can be almost $10, it's just too expensive!

Wow. That's a smell that's hard to avoid in the morning. I recommend driving and not taking Disney transportation then.

Seriously though, I'm sorry that you do find it so offensive. I'm usually always drinking a coffee on the bus.

Years ago (probably 2002-3) I rode from TTC to Epcot with a plastic glass of wine from the Poly. No one said a word and I didn't even think about it, just walked right on along with others in our group. Should I apologize now?

IT ISN'T ALLOWED!! Get a clue! People just do it anyway and lazy CMs don't enforce the rule (I rarely use the word lazy in conjunction with CM and paused before I used it here, but couldn't think of any other explanation).

Umm, you stated you hated the smell of coffee and the fact that people bring it anywhere, allowed or not allowed. If they are allowed to bring coffee to a certain place, then you are the one with the problem, not them. Otherwise it is like me saying that perfume shouldn't be allowed because I don't like the smell.

Where are you running into so many people drinking coffee where it is not allowed? There are very few places in Disney World that it is not allowed, so I'm curious. Btw, you can bring it onto a bus if your cup has a lid. You are just not supposed to drink it on the bus.

As an aside, if all you feel like doing on the Disboards today is yelling at other posters, it probably isn't a good idea to continue to post. You don't want to end up with points.

People bring coffee places where it is not allowed. They don't care if drinks are restricted (like in the bus). Somehow they think coffee is exempt or they are overly self entitled (the source of much rude behavior).

I see it many places where drinks are not allowed. Stores, busses, attractions, etc. Just because no one stops them, doesn't change the fact that they are restricted, and it is incredibly rude to others. I don't set foot in a Starbucks. By the same token, if I'm in a drink restricted area, I shouldn't have to suffer through your coffee smell.

The Disboards has Moderators, who can hand out points if they dont like how people post. Being insulting, rude tone, being sarcastic, are all things that can earn a poster points. Depending on the offense it an equal a warning, or the person can be banned from posting for any length of time. You seem a bit aggravated so I was just trying to get you to step back before you got n trouble, that is all.

As far as the coffee goes people are free to take it most places in WDW. That includes many shops and attractions and shows. I've been surprised how many times the answer has been Yes when I have asked if food and drink is allowed somelace at WDW. And that includes buses . You can have it, you are not supposed to consume it.

It may not violate FL's law, but I'm almost certain it violates Disney's law (private property and transportation). They can regulate it on their property.

It violates Disney's policy - which are no eating or drinking on transportation. That would include that bag of fruit snacks many of us hand our kids on the monorail and the granola bar we hand off on the bus. But Disney has the option of enforcing policy or not - and generally, they don't enforce policy - confrontation and conflict are not magical - not only for the guest being "corrected" but for the guests around that guest as the guest being corrected often escalates far beyond what is making the other guests uncomfortable to start with.

Unless it is completely sealed and spill proof, (like a screw top bottle of water), it can still spill, annoy, or do the things that made it prohibited in the first place. I think you taking liberties, because perhaps it hasn't always been enforced, but no drinks means no drinks.

Your way of spinning the rules to meet your own personal agenda is the exact behavior I'm talking about. "The rules don't apply to me" mentality.

I asked the bus driver if we could take our drinks (in the resort refillable mugs) on and that was his exact reply. You can have it on just not drink it. A lot of people have food and drinks from Disney stores and such that they are taking back to their rooms. Popcorn in Disney buckets, decorated apples, etc that they take home.

Well I guess I will get a big portion of sauerkraut and carry it on the bus along with a big Margarita, and a hot fudge sundae. I just won't consume it.

OP, according to this rule interpretation (which I still believe is not the intent of the rule), an open beer is just fine unless they drink it.

For those of you that might take note that not everyone appreciates the smell of coffee (yes Folgers, that's right) or other oderous items into enclosed spaces, it is appreciated

Alcohol isn't allowed on the bus.

You will feel better if you relax. Have a drink. You stated people think it is okay to being it everywhere. You weren't just talking about Disney buses. If somebody brings coffee somewhere and there are no rules against it, then they aren't being rude or inconsiderate. The problem is your personal issue about what you don't like.

Many coffee drinkers are self entitled and think they should be able to carry it EVERYWHERE they go. It is annoying and affects more than just themselves. That's all.

Last time I checked if I am riding in a car with a friend, I am not legally allowed to consume or have open alcohol. If I am on a city bus or city transportation I am not allowed to have or consume open alcohol. I am not sure why people would think it is appropriate on Disney transportation.

They allow people to bring food into the parks. How would you suppose they think most people get it there? Or how do they think people are getting all of those caramel apples, nuts, popcorn and candy back to their rooms? As far as drinks go, I've seen bus drivers tell guests their coffee cups were not allowed when they didn't have lids, but say that if they had a lid it would be allowed. Seems pretty clear.

Also, the signs and the announcement on the buses state no eating or drinking on the bus. They do not tell you you are not allowed to have food on the buses.

There is someone here with their own agenda, and it sure isn't me.
