Well I finally took the leap and bought a new Cricut machine off ebay today and got it for $80 so I'm feeling pretty good about that. THEN I started shopping for cartridges! :scared1:
Not sure this was such a good idea now but, oh well, I still had Christmas money burning a hole in my pocket! Now I can see I'll always have a use for any "extra" money I might have...

Start slowly with purchasing your cartridges and you should be able to get some good deals. I got one cartridge for $9.99!

Have fun playing with your cricut!!!

Like Lisa said, just purchase slowly when you have a little bit of extra money. You don't need every cartridge at once, even though sometimes it seems like you do. :rotfl2:

Have fun playing. :cool1:

And, there's a list somewhere on here of people's favorite carts - there seems to be a recurring subset that you might want to be the your first purchases - one I remember, because I own it, is Opposites Attract because it has a couple very different fonts on it.

It is addicting! Have fun!

Yep, that's what I was afraid of!

You know, I was looking at that one and thinking it might be a pretty good one. I'm needing to find a font that is fun but not too "girly" looking. I'm also considering Printing 101 for a general all-purpose font.

Thanks! Any thoughts or tips are appreciated as I have no idea what I'm doing!

I like OA a lot. I like all the features available with that one. My all time most used font is Mickey.

I also love the font on the Mickey Font cart, use it a lot. I'm also liking that a lot of the new shape carts are having a font on them as well.
Also ... NEVER pay full price for a cart! Wait for sales or shop online.
Enjoy your new toy!

OK, I was driving myself crazy trying to find THE perfect cart to start with since the machine I bought didn't come with one at all. It was only 80 bucks so I wasn't complaining about it, but there are just so many carts to choose from! I finally jumped on an auction for Plantin Schoolbook and got it for $20 with free shipping. I know it was the one included in the Expression, but it looks like a good basic font with some shapes included as well. I hope I chose well!

Congrats on your Cricut purchase.

Santa brought me mine this Christmas. It's so easy to use and I love it.

I, as well, am trying not to go overboard on the cartridge buying.

I think my favorite cartridge purchase so far is Alphalicious.

I've been looking at a few sites that seem to have good prices on the carts. Sorry to enable you further.:rotfl2:

One is hallmarkscrapbook.
The other is ohmycrafts.

I have not purchased from either but I'm thinking about it.

I did buy two of the cruicut jukeboxes. No I can plug in twelve cartridges to the cricut and I don't have to take the cart in and out of the machine.

Happy cricuting!!! (Is that a word?!!!)

So that's what the jukebox is for! Good to know - thanks!

I have the Little bug, the big bug, the Design Studio and the Gyspy. I like to use my gyspy like a dictionary. I type in a word in the search bar and it will tell which cart it is on without having to going searching through my stuff. Also I can design or whatever in the gypsy hook it to my cricut and cut useing that WITHOUT using any carts in my machine. Life has been alot easier since I got my gyspy. Thank you Santa LOL I only have about 32 or 33 carts. I started just going for anything Disney then added to that LOL.

OA is one of my font favorites
I also like All mixed up.

What I did when I was sitting around doing nothing was
I printed the cart list (I put it on this board)

I went to the cricut site

Opened each and every cart they had.

I put a 1 through 6 next to each cart. 1 for oooh I'm getting that. 2 for hmm that's nice I could use that, 3 for I can see me using that, 4 for I could use that but when 5 for I want that but when am I going to use it and 6 was for NOPE don't need it ever LOL

After every cart had a number I then went and put all the ones together, then 2's etc.

After I had my new list that is how I shopped. I got ALL the ones 1st then the 2's then the 3s'

This way when you go to the store you are not so overwhelmed with all the carts. You know what you want when you get there.
