I thought I was so smart, had figured out all my ADRs by checking menus and such at allears.net. I fretted and stressed about these ADRs cause people I knew had told me it was something you were supposed to fret and stress over. And I thought I had a really good plan put together.

Until today. Today I found out 2 things:
Narcoossee's counts as 2 TS credits
and
The Rain Forest Cafe is not eligible for DDP b/c it is not Disney owned

Ok, no biggie, since I hadn't planned on N's using up 2 credits not being able to use credits at RFC just evens everything out. And goodness knows I have more CS credits than I know what to do with.

So if you're a first timer with the DDP like me, don't assume Cindy's RT is the only place that requires 2 TS credits. And find out if the restaurant your interested in is Disney owned.

Now...which is the best CS place for dinner in AK? Anyone? Anyone?

There are many restaurants that aren't Disney owned that participate. Most of the ones in World Showcase in EPCOT are not Disney owned, neither are all the ones located in Down Town Disney and at the Boardwalk. Check the links to the brochures that list all the particpants and how many credits they require.

As for the CS in AK I would suggest Flame Tree Barbeque (the onion rings here are a great use of Snack credit) or Pizzafari. I avoid the one in Dinoland at all costs, worst CS I ever had. I haven't tried the new Yak & Yeti location yet but since I don't care for asian style food I doubt it would be my preference.

We really enjoyed the Flame Tree Barbeque because we enjoyed the food AND could get seating far back away from the crowds. In the heat of summer I don't know if there is a breeze back there or not, though.

The food there is good. BUT, there are a LOT of birds around the seating area. Make sure whatever table you get is under the roof and wipe it down before anything touches it.

I like Flame Tree BBQ best, it's good food. I like the pork sandwich. Pizzafari is good too, but it's the generic thick crusted Disney pizza you can get anywhere. As for the Yak & Yeti CS - skip it. We got sweet & sour chicken which was pretty much regular deep fried chicken nuggets with some sweet & sour sauce on top, and the fried rice doesn't have a lot of flavor.

Scroll down the link I attached and you can see which restaurants are on the DDP and also which are 2 TS . You can click on hem then and view the menu which you already may hve see from All Ears.
Also Flame Tree BBQ is our favorite in AK and maybe our favorite overall.

I'd head over to the Animal Kingdom Lodge and have dinner at their counter service place - Mara.

Better selection and then you can go to the viewing area and watch the animals.

Thank you everyone. I guess I didn't do all of my homework.

I like the idea of eating at the AK lodge and letting the girls watch the animals. We'll be there our first night so it sounds like a relaxing thing to do before bedtime.

If you go to AKL & eat @ Mara, can you watch the animals while you eat? Sorry if that's a silly question we've never been there:)

Not while, but before/after.
The restaurant (mara) is on 1 side of the pool, on the other side there is a flamingo pond then an overlook for one of the savannah's. If you're there later at night, you can go to the Arusha Rock overlook and look through the night vision goggles.
