We will have the DDP plan for 3 adults and 1 child. One of the adults is my 11 year old daughter who eats less than her 6 year old brother. The kids love O'hana.....and we usually eat there each overnight trip. In the past...without DDP.....my kids have both ordered a kid's hamburger as they do not eat the family-style food that is served. Am I able to pay OOP for a kid's meal for my 11 year old or do I have to use the DDP for all of us?

Next up is Cape May Cafe for dinner. Would I be able to order a hamburger from Beaches n Cream (OOP) and bring it into Cape May with us for dd11? My dd11 is a very picky eater....and we usually visit the same restaurants over and over based on the availability of pizza or hamburgers. We would like to try other restaurants this time around....and are trying to find ways to accommodate dd11.... while trying new things ourselves.

We about places with individual meals? Can I pay OOP for dd11 to order off the kids menu? Specifically at Whispering Canyon Cafe and Yak and Yeti?

Thanks for the help!

At 'Ohana, if your child is 11 you will pay the full adult meal price no matter what they eat. Even if they eat a kids "alternative" meal. So I'd guess you might as well use credits for that.

Cape May is a buffet. They will not allow you to bring in outside food, or have your daughter share without paying. You couldn't even feed her and then go to the buffet, because buffet policy is that everyone present pays, no matter how much they eat, even if they just sit there and eat nothing. (I've seen a few reports where families who go into buffets/family style places with a sleeping child who sleeps through the meal are given a break and not charged sometimes. But for an 11 year old to just sit there while everyone else eats, they will likely charge for her. Your best bet is probably to ask at Cape May if they can make her a hamburger or provide her with one.)

Yak and Yeti, yes. You would have to ask at WCC if you are going for dinner, because while dinner does have a separate children's menu, the rest of the menu (for guests 10 and older) is all you can eat. I have no personal experience with WCC at all though, as to whether or not they would allow your 11 year old to order from the children's menu.

I appreciate the reply! As the years go by we keep hoping dd11 will adjust her eating habits and try new things....no luck yet. I think I will ask at Cape May if they can possibly make her a hamburger....as Beaches and Cream is pretty close....maybe they can manage to make it happen. Thanks.

Cape May has a children's section of the buffet which offers typical kids' foods such as pizza and Mac n cheese if she'll eat those. My boys (5 & 10) love Cape May. They request it every trip. But they both love seafood too so that makes it easy. If you ask my DS10 what is his favorite restaurant, he'll say Cape May. And that's not just at WDW, it's his favorite anywhere. :)
