Does anyone else think that they pump in the vanilla smells to the candy stores on Main Street? Its OVERWHELMING the smell. I think they do it to pull you in. Because none of the baked yummies smell that good, so why would they from the street? What do you guys think?

I heard they do that with the popcorn smell at the popcorn carts so it wouldn't surprise me.

absolutely they do it .. . . and they are up front about it . . . . they tell you about it when you take one of the tours

look under the front window of the candy shop on Main Street-- you will see the vent where the smell comes out . . . and during the holidays they sometimes change it to peppermint!

someone posted the link to the company that makes them for disney once. I think they have them on the churro carts, popcorn, turkey legs etc.
they also sell them to cold stone, and cinnabon..

I google'ed it and got this info.

"Disney uses a machine called a Scent Emitting System which goes by the nickname "The Smellitzer." The nickname, bestowed by Imagineers, is a play on "Howitzer," which is a powerful, short-barreled artillery gun.

Smells are achieved by using scented pellets and/or liquid in the device, and blowing air through it and into the area of the ride that requires the scent. At the other side of the area, a powerful fan pull the scent back out of the air so that it doesn't drift into other parts of the ride or show.
Some of the rides, locations and attractions which use Scent Emitting Devices:

Main Street USA (Bet you thought that baking and candy scent was real! Only part of it is.)
Soarin'
Ellen's Energy Adventure
Journey into Imagination
Mickey's PhilharMagic
It's Tough to Be a Bug
Kali River Rapids
Spaceship Earth"

You know, for some reason when wazowskiLOVER, disneyLOVE, and I were in Fantasyland this past Saturday morning (around the Casey Jr. Circus Train entrance and the cart where they sell pickles), we smelled bacon.

And we were like, "Where's that smell coming from? Do you smell that? Smells like... BACON. Where does Fantasyland sell BACON?"

So then we all wanted to eat bacon, but were disgruntled when we didn't know where to buy it. So we went on the Tea Cups instead.

....Yup.

:lmao: I would have hunted it down! I love the smell of bacon!!

I like that they do this, it smells nice and reminds you that you are hungry enough to spend 20 bucks on popcorn and two sodas :lmao:
