I know, simple pleasures and all, but hey it's the first time in my 20+ years as a registered voter that anybody ever called up to ask my political opinions. It was only the local (Seattle) news, but that's okay. At least I can no longer grumble at polls and say "Yeah, well, nobody ever asks me."

How about you? Have you ever been polled?

Not for political reasons. I don't answer the phone now if I don't recognize the number, so I can't be polled. I guess I'm a "silent majority"...or minority, depending on what poll you're looking at at the moment.

I usually don't either, but this one actually said "King 5 polling" on the caller ID so I answered it.

Yup. I think they were trying to get my parents though because I've only voted once, and they normally go for the people who have voted consistently over the years.

Ok, forget that. I have been contacted regularly by a national company collecting political preference information. There. I managed to get the point across without incriminating myself.

I sit around and dream of being polled or being called for Jury Duty. Neither of which has ever happened to me. Maybe I just look too stereotypical for the polling people, or because I live in a pretty conservative area, they go to more 'neutral' places?

Seriously. I would also LOVE to get Jury Duty. I see EVERYONE around me get that letter and complain for days about it. I just want to get one once. Knowing my luck though, I'd get the most boring case in history or one that would be something that no one would EVER actually pick me to be on a jury for. Or, it will happen in the next week or so while I am on bed rest with this baby boy I am about to have.

Another one I had to listen to twice because I really wasn't sure I was hearing correctly...I swear it said "Do you or any member of your family own a dump." ?????????????????
