My sister has told me she is pregnant. We are due to go to Florida in August and think she will be about 5 or 6 months. Does anyone know what implications this will cause with flying, travel insurance and also in the parks?
Sis reckons 'she is gutted' she won't be able to go on the big roller coasters but we think this was a cunning ploy all along!!!:p

Any advice would be great.

PS we are going with TCD if thts of any help.

thanks

We went 7 years ago when my far better half was about 5-6 months pregnant, there are no problems, insurance shouldnt be a problem except for the final two weeks of pregnancy, when a doctors advice should be sought, the heat was a bit uncomfortable but she doesnt really do rides and so didnt miss out really. All the fast rides have warning notices about the usual medical conditions etc.
The real problem we had was she contracted food poisoning which was a bit of a worry, but everything was ok.

Just enjoy................:) :) I'm sure you all will

my mum and dad were going to sit out the rides 'so they could stay with the little one and the stroller'.

Now we can drag them on the rides!!!!!!

LOL!! I am an expert on being pregnant at WDW. Have been twice whilst "with child" and didnt really have any problems at all. Both times I was around 20 weeks which has no implications for travel at all (after 28 weeks you need a Dr's note, and they wont let you fly after 34 weeks). I did get slightly swollen ankles on the flight, but the cabin crew were excellent and kept me supplied with plenty of iced water. I had aisle seat so I could get to the loo quickly :D.

Most rides at the parks have an over cautious policy..."Pregnant women should not ride". Just be sensible. I didnt do the BIG coasters like R&R, BTM or Space Mountain, but felt it was perfectly safe for me on Kali River Rapids, Kilimanjaro Safari, Haunted Mansion etc. The most annoying thing about being pregnant in Florida is you arent allowed to use a jacuzzi (our villa had one) and I wasnt a happy bunny!!

I guess I did get a little tired if we had spent all day in the parks, but its easy to find a nice spot to stop and relax if you need to.

One tip, if you are driving to the parks, tell the attendant at the entrance booth you have a pregnant lady on board and they will let you park in the VIP section.

Have fun.

Some airlines require a certificate from your doctor to say you are fit to fly and how many weeks pregnant you are. I had to have one when we flew to Corsica when I was pregnant with DS. It's worth checking with the airline.

Julie

ps I had to pay for the certificate
