To (hopefully) keep things simple I'll do this in one thread. Just to remind you:

The Players:
Me, 21 (twice, plus one for luck :rolleyes1 if you can't work it out stick with 21 and make me happy ;) ), overweight and middleaged on the outside, dresses in princess gowns and sparkly accessories on the inside
DH - 41 (but still not used to 40), responsible for getting me hooked on Disney so has to suffer the consequences despite not "getting" it in the same way
DS(14) - "Treat me like an adult" - well, we have to pay adult prices, but he's not getting any beer! Likes rides, cowboys and guns, embarassed by his parents (especially me )
DS(8) - Loves Disney, still thinks his mum is beautiful and wants me to wear a princess dress to match my tiara
G'ma - my mum, 68 but mind hasn't quite caught up with that yet

If you want the full back-story see the pre-trip report.

DAY 1

At the horrible time of 4.15am we got up to a snowy morning. Picked G'ma up at 5.05, persuaded her she had shut the door properly:rolleyes: by 5.15 and set off for Le Shuttle. Although the roads were clear, the fields each side fo the A20 were thick with snow :scared1: . Still, we reached the terminal at 6.10 - a clear 10 mins to spare before check-in closed - just time for a visit to the restrooms before joining the queue for the shuttle.
IMG_0075.jpg

On the upper deck - I think for the first time! On the other side of la Manche :cool2: was even more snow. The hard shoulder had a good 2" of dirty slush, and although the sky was clear, with a bright sun, there was no sign of the snow melting. It was like something off Ski Sunday:rotfl: As we got deeper into France the sky grew cloudier and the snow covering thinner - but it was still bitterly cold.

We started off following the RAC route, but once it abandoned us in the middle of the countryside we wroked back to the motorway (via Charles de Gaulle airport :scared: ) and followed the Disney route which took us straight there. I put on my famous tiara as we approached the Disneyland Hotel: much to the embarassment of DH and DS(14) cast members from then on curtseyes or said "Good morning princess" :lmao: DS(8) thought it was no more than my due :lovestruc Left the cases with the Bell Hop, checked in andwent to buy our park tickets (TIP: if you are a shareholder you get a better price buying the tickets at the door than in advance when booking the hotel). By 12.30 we were on our way to Disney Studios.
IMG_0077.jpg

First stop - Cinemagique (which had been remixed since our last visit). Came out just in time for Moteurs - Action doors opening for the 13.15 showing. But that 1/2 hour waiting for the start was really cold - those seats are NOT cosy
IMG_0099.jpg

From there Studio Tram tour (a walk-on), flying carpets (another walk-on) and a quick look in the shops - DS(8) making his first purchase of the holiday! - before heading back to DLH to look at our rooms. We had ajoining rooms, so G'ma took the King bed and the rest of us had the two Queens (the room was slightly bigger). It was very tasteful - perhaps a bit too understated! - with pale pink and green everywhere. there was a fiezeof clasic Disney movies (Jungle Book, Lady & the Tramp etc.) round the top of the wall in both bedroom and bathroom, with a marquetry castle on the heads of the beds, fairies (pink silhouettes) on the bedcovers, a marquetry panel depicting Peter Pan and the pirate ship on the armoire, a mirror with Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs in the bathroom. Oh, and dancing hippos from Fantasia on the tiles over the bath - not very comforting to look at when you don't fit under the bubbles!:sad2:

IMG_0127.jpg

we unpacked quickly and went off to Walts in Disneyland Park for dinner. The joy of being in DLH is you don't need to keep going through bag check - well worth the extra!
IMG_0192.jpg

We were shown to a brilliant table overlooking Main Street, just in time to choose our food before the parade started coming past and I had to keep going over to the window next to our table to take pictures (because I could get closer that way - for viewing purposes our table was perfect!)
IMG_0137.jpg

IMG_0152.jpg

I had marinated salmon (yummy!) followed by beef and seasonal veg (yummy!) and finished with apple crumble with salted butterscotch icecream (oooooooooh :faint:) Sorry - no pictures of the meal as it got eaten too fast! (We didn't have lunch, just some sandwiches en route, so we were starving!) From Walts we walked to Fantasyland and ticked off Pinnochio, Dumbo (short wait), IASW (walk-on) plus a lengthy tour of the labyrinth in light rain/snow. By the time we found our way out there was already a big crowd for Candleabration, it was very cold and we were very tired so we headed back to the hotel via the gift shop (where I bought some postcards and planned future purchases ;) ) then back to the rooms to play with the toiletries and early to bed - all lights out by 9.45

Oooh - lucky you, in the DLH. I had never been in the place until this week, but I sooo wanted to be staying there. The whole place shrieks opulence.

Well done on the tiara. :thumbsup2

What a lovely first day. :) You got loads done and what a yummy sounding meal. :thumbsup2

Hope we get to see a piccy of you in your tiara. princess:

Day 2

Despite a long day and a later-than-usual bedtime DS(8) was up and ready to go soon after 6.00am while DS(14) slept on peacefully. We finally hit the breakfast queue at about 8.30. It was very busy, so we were seated far over in the California Grill - we didn't get to see characters but it was a bit more peaceful. Usual selection of hot and cold stuff, excellent fresh fruit but yucky UHT milk so don't bother with cereal.

After breakfast we collected our coats and headed over to Fantasyland for the last part of EMH.

IMG_0196.jpg

Polished off Fairytale Country, Casey Jnr and Snow White, 20 min wait for Peter Pan (worth it as usual) - had enough of the maze last night! - before heading over to Adventureland for POTC - a walk-on Probably our favourite ride of all time! The boys then had a bit of fun in the treehouse before DH suggested BTMR, arguing it must be a walk-on despite the "40 mins from here" sign as he couldn't see the end of the queue. DS(8) decided it would be too fast, so DH and DS(14) disappeared off and we waited....and waited....for an hour or more! Finally they joined us and we went off to the Phantom Manor before heading over to the Tarzan show - much better than the old "Tarzan Rocks"
IMG_0239.jpg

Went back to the room to deposit some purchases and pick up snacks to keep us going before heading back to the Studios.

Me in the tiara - by popular demand!!!!

Animagique, Stich Live and Armageddon ticked off fairly quickly, but the wait for Crush was over an hour so we headed to Disney Village to look at the shops before Buffalo Bill show. We were allocated to the Blue section, but they keep you hanging around in the bar rather than letting you straight in - we were happy to buy drinks, but they only had 2 barmen on duty. The servers did a little dance before the show
IMG_0257.jpg

but honestly some of them could have been spared to be behind the bar!
The show was great fun, with lots of interaction, but sometimes it was a bit dark to see the food. We also had the doziest server ever - kept trying to put Coke into DH's beer :headache: and was sooooooo slooooooow.

On the way back stoppped in the shop and saw the castle lit up from the windows
IMG_0262.jpg

then back to the room and bed by 10.00pm.

DAY 3
Bit longer sleep - DS(8) didn't wake til 7.30 - and by 8.00 were on the way for breakfast, pausing for an "official" photo with Goofy. Usual selection for Breakfast except the potatoes had all gone, and the egg was running out. They seemed very slow to fill things - maybe because we were in Inventions. Still no sign of characters at breakfast (though there were generally a couple in the corridors around mealtimes) and our waitress was similarly elusive - had to find her to ask for hot water for tea, which she didn't seem to understand whether in French or English (and in case you're wondering, I'm fluent in French and had no trouble with anyone else!) But by 9.15 on our way to Disneyland park for an early encounter with Buzz.

I was rubbish - DS(8) beat me easily but DS(14) got the best score - chiefly by keeping on firing at a high scoring target during a temporary halt! Then DS(14) and DH went off to do Space Mountain (showing 5 minute wait) while the rest of us queued for Orbitron.
IMG_0267.jpg

(hope this comes out the right way up - I've been having trouble with Photobucket today!)
DS and DH were back before we even got to the front of the queue!
IMG_0271.jpg

Then a long, cold wait for Autopia, which hadn't been working last time we visited DLP. Its a short ride for such a long wait (but DS(8) enjoyed driving). The funniest thing is seeing adults in cars on their own pretending they're in a race :lmao: Then off to queue for Legend of the Lion King. This was a very cold wait - they didn't start letting us in until just before the start of the show, and they could easily have moved everyone in once the queue started forming as it was very long, and they hadn't put up enough ropes to "snake" it properly. As it was, people were still being let in during the introduction (we had front row seats, just to the left of the stage) . It was a good show, but not as good as FOTLK in WDW.
IMG_0285.jpg

When we came out we decided to go and get an extra layer and some snacks before returning to the Studios for DH and DS(14) to try Crush and the rest of us to see Animagique again (DS(8)'s favourite). On the way id etoured to the castle to buy some Christmas ornaments, and on the way back through MAin St saw the Birthday character train.
IMG_0298.jpg

Our mission in the studio complete (DH adn DS(14) came out exactly the same time as us!) and the rain getting annoying we went back to the hotel so DH and the boys could enjoy the pool while me and G'ma did some packing
IMG_0359.jpg

The entrance to the leisure complex

Then off for a quick pre-match drink before our dinner in Inventions.
This was absolutely the best character meal I've ever had. We were well placed to keep an eye on where the characters enter, and time our visits to the buffet accordingly. We were booked for 6.00 - right when it opens - so the buffet was all clean, full and untouched:goodvibes There was a good selection of cold meats, fish, shelfish, salads, a whole section of various prawns, hot dishes including meat, fish and vegetarian options and a special "kids menu" with chicken shapes, fishy shapes, potato ghosts, mash and bolognaise. The puddings were very varied, with flans, pastries and (my favourite) pancakes - there was coulis and custard, but why bother with a chocolate fountain right alongside. We had excellent character interaction:
Gepetto, Pinnoichio, Mary Poppins' penguin (we saw one every day of our stay!), Goofy, Pluto, Eeyore (sporting a chocolate handprint from an unsupervised toddler!) and this duck guy whose name I forget
IMG_0320.jpg

By 7.00pm we couldn't fit anything else in  so waddled back to the room to get our coats and head for the last minutes in the park as we were heading straight off after breakfast
We managed to catch the last train of the day (we hadn't been able to get on it once so far, and it is one of our favourite things to do!) and took a trip right around the park. As we got off, Candleabration was in full swing so we went up Main St to try to get a glimpse of the show.
IMG_0334.jpg

Thank heavens for zoom lenses!
IMG_0338.jpg

IMG_0344.jpg

(Another pic I hope works!)
It as quite overcast so the twinkly lights showed up well - at least it had stopped raining! So we went back towards the hotel, and there was Mickey up at the train station saying goodbye! My camera is really slow in poor light, but hopefully the prints will be OK once I've edited them - I did manage a few where you could see Mickey
So back to the room and bed by 10.00pm

DAY 4
Down to breakfast just before 8.00 and got a fantastic table right in the bay window of California Grill - thats the wide window you see from the park.:goodvibes The breakfast dishes were all full and hot, and we even managed to extract tea from yet another dozy waitress (they definitely save the good servers for dinner!!) Collected our bags and while DH and DS(14) loaded the car checked out in about one minute and headed away from the magic
The way back (without any help from the RAC:rolleyes: ) was straightforward. We had a quick stop at Cite Europe for a new school bag for DS(14) and some essentials in Carrefour - mostly Kir, and my Phyto hair products which are cheaper in Euro than I pay in £ in the UK:thumbsup2 Managed to get a crossing one hour earlier so were back in the UK by 13.50 and home about an hour after that. And the rest is :laundy:

Thanks for sharing your lovely report. I get so jealous when I read about people who can drive there! If I could do that I would go more often (only because my 6 yr old loves it so much of course!). Great photos.

Thanks for the TR and love your photos, helps me get my buzz on for my trip.

1 month 1 day and counting

Fabulotastic report.

That duck is Launchpad McQuack. Don't I sound knowledgeable? It's only because he was in Inventions the night before and my dtr got his autograph. I had never seen him before. :)

You are so adorable!!
I  the tiara. I am soo getting one to wear when I am in WDW.

Great report, loved the tiara. Must get one myself but I am not sure I would be brave enough to wear it! I'd love for my DH to wear a crown too since this will be a 15th anniversary trip but that won't happen.

I've really enjoyed reading your trippie ~ your pictures are great and your tiara looks lovely. :goodvibes

Thanks all! I followed advice and got the tiara beforehand in Claires Accessories - they had a good range of styles and it was cheaper than buying one in the parks (plus fits adult heads!). It feels weird not to be wearing one now - perhaps I'll just slip it on for a little:rolleyes1

Thanks for the report - wished I had worn a tiara !!

Staying in the DLH sounds great - would be something I would love to do at some point ......

Ooohh sounds like you had a lovely time. I'd like to stay in the pink hotel one of these days!!:)

Its worht it just to avoid bag check! And so nice if the weather changes and you can pop back in a 10 min round trip to add/remove layers:thumbsup2
