So basically planned a weekday trip in September, realized today my California Adventure day matches with OOgie Boogie Bash. My sister is not huge on packed crowds (Down's). Is it a but to gut situation, or lighter than regular crowds. The ticket cost is not a factor, crowds are. It would be a Thursday also. Any prior experiences welcome.

Yes you should go. I'd stay away from the mix in hours. They let you into the park 3 hours before the party, but it's very crowded and hot during that time. If the party starts at 6:00, I will get there between 5:30-6:30 to avoid the long line to get in and the massive crowds in the park.

It's usually less crowded after 6pm (after all, you are paying for that privilege), and it should come down to how much you want to dress up in costume and get a buttload of candy that you would not want to eat.

Do they not give good candy anymore?
They contract with a company and you'll get tons of the exact same things. I use mine to give away to trick or treaters at home. The M&Ms will be something odd like brownie in the middle or it's a cookie or something. I can't even remember what other kinds they give out. I'll eat my 3 Musketeers and usually get anywhere from 1 to 3 of those.
