Hello,
Is it cheaper to stay onsite or off? Is there somewhere that sells an onsite package cheaper than Disney or are they all roughly the same? we're planning on June 17-24, 2004 and I'd like to find the best deal, the last few times we've gone it was offsite but, my husband is bored with Universal and IOF and says we can't afford Disney and Seaworld :( I'm sorry to bring up other parks if it's taboo but, I love my marinelife, especially Dolphins!!! so, the onsite package seems the way to go just want to make sure it's worth it to go that way or book everything seperate.
Thanks, Maryann :)

HI Maryann,
Welcome!! I am not sure a package would be the way to go. I have never been in the summer so a package might be good. Post your message on the Resort board. However, I have found that even going in Value season (Feb), it is better to have room only ressies and buy your tickets seperately. Those ultimate park hopper passes are not worth the extra dollars as there is never enough time to do everthing. Goto Mousesavers.com and register there. She always has the latest discounts available. The discounts for Jan/Feb just came out the first week of Dec. we got a room at the new Pop Century for $55/night plus tax!! If you are AP holders there is a chance that you may be able to get a good rate for your time frame. You didn't mention how many are in your party, but Pop Century may be a good option. If you/husband is a nurse, military, teacher or have an Entertainment book, the Swan or Dolphin may be a good choice for you. They are on Disney property but not owned by Disney. Another good option is to go to the DVC board and look into renting points for the DVC resorts. You can get a very nice Deluxe resort for just a fraction of the rack rate. Most DVC members rent their points for $9/$10 per point. Best days are Sunday through Thursday as Friday, Saturday and Sunday are higher point days. As an example I checked into renting a room at the Beach Club Villas from a Sunday and leaving on Friday and it was like $650. Still may seem a little steep, but remember you are staying in a very nice resort and have a kitchen and laundry facilities. Might be worth checking into. I know this seems a little overwhelming, hang tough and keep asking questions.

Cya There!!

:wave2:

IMHO, the answer to your question is whether you will get up o take advantage of early entry. If you don't, I think you are much better off at one of the hotels in Kissimmee with a comparable room at about half of a Disney room

First of all it's not taboo to mention the other parks, LOL!

Cheaper is relative, you can stay onsite at the All Stars and spend $55 a night or spend $400 a night at an offsite upscale hotel!

I don't like packages at all, if you check these boards booking yourself can be less expensive in the long run.
