I have a quick question,

For those of you who will be onsite the first week of May....

Do you -

Go to MK on Wed. May 4th for the EMH evening
Go to MK on Thur. May 5th for the Celebration/Spectro/etc..
or - BOTH

Will both of these days have huge crowds????

THANKS!!!

Well IMHO I'm betting that both those days will be really busy. From all I've heard here on the boards, it seems the Parks with the EMH tend to be the most crowded, and then with the celebration kicking off on the 5th, well..let's just say it's going to be :crowded: !
We'll also be there during that time, so we've got to decide which parks to go to as well.

:hourglass

I had the same question - we're taking my mom for the first time and I just accidentally scheduled the 5th for our MK day and then found out today that the evening EMH is the 4th. We don't have kids so MK is not necessarily a must-do for us but I would like her to see it. If the 5th is too crazy I guess we can just leave but I also don't want to miss anything FABULOUS!

I'm avoiding MK on Wednesday and Thursday. We'll be at Animal Kingdom on the 4th, and Islands of Adventure on the 5th during the day. I'm not sure what we will do that evening though.

The 5th on the other hand will be a zoo at the Magic Kingdom, if for no other reason than Epcot is closing at 3:00. I'll be at MGM that whole day.

Do you know why it is that they are closing Epcot at 3:00? :confused3 You would think if they had some kind of Press thing to do that they would do it at MK.

MK doesn't have any new rides to show-off. ;)

Ooohhh.. I guess that does make sense!

I'm sad..We love to visit Epcot on our final night

We are there from the 3rd of May until the 10th of May. This is what we are planning.

Tues May 3rd
get wristband at EPCOT
go eat dinner at 1900 Park Fare at 7:20.
Run back to EPCOT do as much as we can until Midnight

Weds May 4th
We will attempt the EMH at MK to get as much as we can done

Thurs May 5th
We will be at MK for an 8:10am CRT Ressie
and we will be there at night to watch spectro and wishes again
But will sneak in EMH at AK first

Sunday
will do EMH at MGM to get as much as we can done.

The rest of the time we will visit parks and get as much in as possible. But the plan is open to change and we will do what we can as this is not just a one time trip we will go back so if we miss something we won't be that upset.

Amy

Okay... this is what I'm thinking we're going to do:

Arrive Sat.(4/30) and check out Resort - may do Wide World of Sports

Sunday (5/1) - MK then swing over to MGM for EEMH

Monday (5/2) - MGM then Epcot?

Tuesday (5/3) - AK

Wednesday (5/4) - Epcot

Thursday (5/5) - MK ?

This May 5th thing is really messing me up... :sad2: we picked the 1st week in May because it's usually more quiet... :charac2: But, as my DH keeps telling me..quit whining, your going to DISNEYYYY!!! ( I know he's right... )

I'm confused. If Grumpy says he is staying at Epcot May 3 till midnight, does that mean that WS is open 3 hours later, or just Future World?

Just Future World is listed as Extra Magic Hour for Tuesday 5/3.

We are going to wing it! We are there 4/28-5/7.
So far we will probably take advantage of the later closing at MK on 4/29
5/2- MGM (Fantasmic dinner package)
5/4- Epcot in the morning for a Princess Breakfast.

Other than that, we are getting a 8-day pass, so we will be hopping. Maybe we will go to Sea World on 5/5 and avoid the crowds all together!!!

Pixiedust, we are going at on the same day!

very cool! Make sure and wear your lime green ribbon (I've got to get one of those!) :earboy2:
I'll be the one running from ride to ride with my kids trying to keep up

I am going May 1-8. My hubbie and myself and 6 year old daughter.
My plans are so far

Sun arrive around noon- Mk -afternoon- evening MGM

Mon- emh Epcot

Tues- Cindy ressie for 10;55 so maybe Mk
not sure what park during the afternoon but epcot at night

wed not sure during the day but mk in the evening

thurs- not sure day but ak at night

fri- emh MK

sat- emh ak
sun mk for the family magic tour

This is our first trip so any advice would be great
thanks Diane

Is the EMH at MK on the 4th a for sure thing? I hadn't seen any updates yet at deb's site or disney.com?

If it is an EMH night for MK then we will do that and also the 5th. :) Back to back nights at MK sounds great to me! :)

We are there April 29 - May 7.

Wow, now that the May hours are out, this thread did take off...

Okay, When I heard that EPCOT was closing early on Thur.5th, along with the big celebration kick-off, that made my mind up right there. May 5th at the Magic Kingdom will be worse than a madhouse!! (this is our once in a lifetime big trip to take DS to MK... I want it be magical, not awful....)

I want back-to-back days at MK too...
So, We will go on Tues.3rd... This should be a slower less crowded day... We will take advantage of a good touring plan to enjoy all the most crowded rides and attractions without waiting.. ( I hope!!! :) ) We will catch the Dream Come True parade (I want DS to see that one...) followed by PS for an early supper with no waiting.
Then, back to MK on Wed. the 4th. This looks like it will be the usual EMH night... But, hopefully we can avoid that becoming a problem. We will take a much slower pace. No fighting the lines and crowds for things we took advantage of the day before. We plan on staking out an excellent spot for the Cinderellabration, followed by PS for lunch at the Castle.

I do want to end our trip to MK with Wishes... so we will have to grin and bear the crowds for that. But what a great Finale! I am just not so sure that Spectro will be worth facing the hoards and hoards of people that will be there on the 5th. And, my son would never know the difference. Wishes will be enough for him!!!! Both in one night might be too much anyhow.

So, I hope I have FINALLY derived the perfect plan!
Can't wait!!!

Well here's my "no kids, just my old MA" plan:

Sunday, May 1 - arrive, dinner at WL, boat to MK for Wishes
Monday - AK morning, MGM afternoon, Boma dinner
(MGM stays open closer to our dinner ressie time)
Tuesday - Epcot
Weds - Discovery Cove, maybe MK EMH if we're not pooped
Thurs - sleep in or go to MK early, lunch at Kona, go back to MK or go the first time if we slept in, or give up altogether (though I really want to be there for Spectro).
Fri - shop DTD and drive mom to airport
Sat - Sea World, fly home

DH and I can always go to MK on Friday afternoon which I've left wide open. We've learned to avoid morning EMH like the plague but I'm not really a morning person in general.

TSirgey - Mk isn't open late on 4/29, actually its closing early due to grad night...where did you see that?

Yep.
4/29 is a MORNING EMH day at MK, then they close at 7 pm for grad nights.

Ugh, I goofed on the 4/29 date. I just looked a the calendar again and realized what I did. Thanks for the head's up!

I'm glad we are staying in the park. It will make the hopping easier. Seems like that will be our best bet for the week. Hop around to find the best park if it gets too crowded.

I was there Pres. day week last year and we managed to have a great time and see everything we came to see. We just used our fast pass effectively.
