Not sure if this has been reported yet since I just returned and have been sick in bed for a few days now so have not had time to peruse the boards...

I gave DH a box of Minnie Mouse cookies ($4) to use up our last snack credit on our check out date (Jan 1). The cashier told him the 2008 plan only allows for single serving snacks so the cookies were ineligible as a snack credit.

Too bad we hadn't got them the day earlier. Since we'd been there from Dec 24 to Jan 1, I'm surprised they enforced the rule since we were still on the 2007 plan. Oh well, :confused3 but thought others might like to know so they adjust their expectations.

cheers,

It IS too bad. I would have pushed the issue in this case, because Guests whose packages started in 2007 were (according to various responses from Disney posted here) entitled to the 2007 rules for their entire stay.

This sucks for us. I had planned on using a few snack credits on bread and milk and things while we are there. Now I guess we'll buy them before we arrive.

If it were me, I would have enquired further as well. However, I gave the pkg to DH who was picking up the last of our delivered pkgs. It was going to take a while so I headed back to the room to start packing. DH is a good sport but has no clue about DDP/all thing Dis :confused3

cheers,
:flower3:

I'm not sure it would have helped much. I overheard quite the disagreement about this very thing at the POFQ store. The CM insisted the registers had been reprogrammed and they couldn't ring in the dining plan that way. The guest insisted they should have the 2007 benefits. They were on the phone with people on the djning line phone number. The CM kept insisting to whoever she talked to on the phone that they couldn't do it that way and if the dining plan said that is the way it should be, they needed to find a way to reprogram her cash register. Frankly, I found the CM to be out of line with both the guest and the other CM's she had on the phone. It certainly left a bad impression with me and I wasn't even involved. I left before it was resolved but it was causing quite the stir in the store.

I think that they are simply enforcing the rules as they were intended. If you look at the 2007 plan here: http://adisneyworld.disney.go.com/m...agespecific/eng/nontheme/tickets/07Dining.pdf it says that snacks are all "single serving". My guess is that it was easier to program the cash registers to accept any food item under $4 as a "snack" and with the overall change of the DDP plan came a change in programming for the snacks too.

We were also on the 2007 DDP with 5 days at AKV (12/26-12/31) and 5 days at BWV (12/31-1/5). We had tons of extra snacks left over on 12/31 so I used them for big bags of chips, bagels, donuts & english muffins. That was breakfast and afternoon snacks for us the next 5 days. We used our BWV snack credits mostly for park food, but I had some left over snacks on 1/5 which was when I found out about the "single serving" thing.

I am usually someone who stands up and says something when I think something is wrong and I did grouse a bit ("bummer!" "That's confusing!"). But it just wasn't worth having a full-blown snit over it. The programming in the cash register had been changed and it did not accommodate the old laxer "rules" of the 2007 plan. And honestly, a box of donuts should never have been on the snack plan to begin with!

I thought it was too good to be true....

I didn't even realize till last trip that you could "load" up with
bkfst makings for the week.

All good things come to an end.

while I do agree a box of donuts is ridiculous for a "snack".....
I wish they would have just raised the price of DDP and not
changed the whole thing.ie....tip, app.

Could one of the MOD's start a new 2008 DDP snack credit thread? The 2007 edition was very helpful. I am hoping the "sweet bread" in Norway is still considered a "snack"- I don't like desserts, but that one makes my mouth water....
