So my family is doing Disney on a budget in October, and we are treating ourselves to ONE table service restaurant (that's the plan so far...). There will be four adults and three children (ages 9, 8, and 7).

What is the ONE restaurant you would recommend and why?

This is a tough question. For breakfast I would go to Ohana. My family loves it - it is very laid back, the food is delicious and it is served family style. It also has a great view of MK. I guess it would be Biergarten for lunch or dinner. I can't imagine not going there on a trip to WDW. The food is good, but we go more for the atmosphere. My kids love to dance to the oompah band and my DH loves the beer.

I think I would choose a character meal if I was only going to splurge on one TS meal. Depending on how many girls you have, maybe princesses since the kids are older? Our first trip, we went to Crystal Palace and saw Pooh and friends. It was a nice break in the a/c during our time in MK.

Wow that's a hard one..........

Buffet's - Chef Mickeys- I choose this as it is for everyone, the fab 5 are here, and the food is good, I have eaten both breakfast and dinner, and enjoyed them both. It's fun to wave your napkins around, and see the character, and the monorail going through CR, If you time it just right you could go out and watch the water parade, or ride the monorail down to the Poly and watch the fire works on the beach or head into MK very easy to get around.

Sit down without characters - It depends on where you will be park wise.
MK-LTT -
DHS - Brown Derby
AK - I would head over to AKL and have dinner at Boma, and go out and watch the animals, and check out this resort beautiful.
Epcot - Chef's, Tutto, Coral Reef -

DTD - I would do Rainforest or T-Rex or Planet Hollywood - When we go in a big group we order a appetizer's and share and make a meal off those and we have even shared a couple of desserts. I ran the cost and it was a lot less if we all order separate meals. When our DD's were around this age they love to eat like this, to this day when we go we have appetizer night,

Boardwalk - Flying fish hands down - very $$$$

Breakfast will be less expensive - But if you are only going to do 1 TS, I personal would do dinner.

Check out the menu's here and over on allears for selection and price.

Have a wonderful time.

Make it a family adventure! Take the boat from Magic Kingdom to Fort Wilderness. You don't have to enter MK to do this and its just a 15 min boat ride. Have the buffet dinner at Trail's End Restaurant. They had plenty of selections that should please your whole gang. We had a great time doing this earlier this month. The food was fresh, hot and tasty. We rode the boat back to MK while the fireworks were going off. Fun way to cap off the day. I know its not "table service" as you get your own at the buffet, but it was a good value for the money.

The ONE restaurant I'd pick would be Ohana for dinner, but I'm biased because it's my favorite. I'm going with a group in September and that is the only TS meal I am booking for us. I think it has something for everyone, is delicious and really fun! I also didn't want to book a signature or anything because I didn't know if everyone would want to pay that much money. For the amount of food you get, I don't think the price is bad. They have some activities for kids and lapu lapus for the adults to drink. :)

Another good option is Biergarten. The food is pretty tasty and there is a fun polka band for entertainment. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is really cool.

If you don't want to go the all-you-can-eat route, I'd say Raglan Road. The food is out of this world and the Irish dancers would be fun for the kids.

If you're looking for a breakfast meal, I'd say Crystal Palace. You can book an ADR before the park opens and get pictures in a mostly-empty MK. The food is great and the kids would enjoy the characters (Pooh & friends).

You didn't say if the one TS restaurant needed to be budgeted. I assume that you are treating yourselves to this one meal...in this case, I would go with Be Our Guest at MK for dinner. It's definitely a magical atmosphere in there, the food is good, there's the Beast for pics after dinner...

It's not a budget dinner, but if I could only eat at one restaurant and I was traveling with 3 children, I think this is the best.

:)

I'd vote for Sanaa: Animals outside the window, some creative kids' menu items, non-signature prices, interesting food for the grownups.

Another option, inside a park, would be Tusker House in AK for breakfast or lunch. You'll get characters, some interesting food choices with plenty of middle-of-the-road options, and some of the friendliest CMs we've encountered at WDW.

If doing a character meal, I would suggest 'Ohana for breakfast. We love the atmosphere at the Poly and you can't help but love Stitch!

I also like Kona for dinner.

I would vote for Boma. The food is so delicious, there was definitely something for everyone. It was also really fun to walk around the beautiful Animal Kingdom Lodge.

I would suggest 1900 Park Fare. The food is one of my favorite buffets in all of WDW, and the characters are so entertaining! The "evil" step-sisters are hilarious!!! It is where we go for our first dinner every trip, and I can't wait to go back there... Mmmmm, strawberry soup!

For a breakfast buffet, we love Crystal Palace with Pooh and Friends. We make an early reservation and go to the park before it is open for the public. It is really neat to walk down main street with no one there.

For supper our family loves O'Hana at the Poly. We love the food and the atmosphere. We, also, enjoy riding the boat over to the Poly!

Be Our Guest if you can get a reservation! Its wonderful!! The food is really good and the atmosphere is great! We love it!

My family enjoys Crystal Palace for breakfast or dinner.
Via Napoli was wonderful.
Brown Derby was good (But I'm not a fan of the grapefruit cake everyone raves about.)
Tusker House for breakfast is great.

I would say that to really choose you'd have to narrow down first of all; what meal of the day, and is it going to be a character meal or not?
To really get bang for your buck, a buffet/family style would be best.

I'm going to have to recommend: Ohana for dinner, any meal at the castle, dinner at Be Our Guest, or even one of the dinner shows (hoop de doo) simply because for the $60 you pay you get unlimited 3 course meal, drinks, and a show. Its worth the money.

The breakfast buffet at Tusker House in AK is really good. The characters are Donald, Daisy, Mickey and Goofy. The food is delicious and you have the benefit of being in the park when you are finished.

We used to have only one table service dinner and it was always Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club. It is our favorite WDW restaurant. The food is good and there is a lot of variety. It is a really refreshing change to have crab legs and fresh fruit after having too many counter service meals of burgers and fries. :)

Crystal Palace if MK, Coral Reef if Epcot, 50s prime time cafe if HS, Tusker house if AK
