Only Finger Lengths I See

This is the tale of a family separated by thousands of miles, trying to pass the time till a vacation that seems forever away...

When I was in 5th grade, which now seems like a million years ago, my family took their first vacation to Disney World. That was 17 years ago, now we are all over the world and yet you will still find pictures of that very first trip at each of our homes. Now we are planning our newest adventure...

First an Introduction of the adventurers in the tale-
Me (Living the real life Lion King) 28 years old- I will be the one weaving a tale of Food and Wine, of Rides and Frights, and of course some Not-So-Scary nights. I have been fortunate enough to go on quite a few Disney trips, from the very first, to Christmas and New Years with my High School band. No matter how many times I go, I never want to leave. Yet, it has been 6 years since my last trip! In those 6 years I have been to 4 different continents, and more than 18 different countries. I live in Germany, but am writing to you from Africa.

The Spartan (Ready to Climb Expedition Everest) 20 years old- My little and shorter sister, even if it is a 1/4 of an inch. This trip will be the first time she can experience the wine part of food and wine festival. She was just 3 at the time of our first trip and now she is hitting the books as she finishes her college degree.

Parental Units (Remember Dinosaur when it Happened) 51 years old- First Mom, she is my cohort in planning this adventure and when she plans she plans. As a kid I was always embarrassed when she pulled out her laminated sheet with the show times, park times, and dinner reservations. Now that I am older I see that we would have been lost without her planning. She is content to sit in the pool with her Kindle enjoying the sun, but will also jump on that ride with you and scream her heart out. Then there is Pops, he is the guy who will stand in long lines with you as long as he has his book, but also the biggest goof-ball.


The Plan-
This all started when it was annouced that episode VII was going to be released in 2015. Myself and my closet nerd of a sister love all things Star Wars. Then as time went on and more things were disccussed timing seemed to work out better for a Fall trip. So here we come food and wine festival with a night of Not-So-Scary Halloweening! The tenative dates are set and we are only 618 days away...

Wait 618 days!!! That's forever what are these adventurers ever going to do for 618 days?!?

What are our 4 intrepid travelers going to wear on the Night of Not-So-Scary fun? There was much discussion, ideas were thrown out from ghostbusters to pirates, but none of those quite fit with this families personality.

Then there was a moment of clarity...Rescue Rangers.

So the characters were set, I would be Dale, The Spartan would be Chip, Mom would be Gadget, and of course Dad would be Monty.

Now we are all on the hunt to find the perfect pieces of each costume. Magnum PI Hawaiian shirt here I come!!!

Most of us if not all of us have been afflicted with the Disney itch. It starts to happen when it's been just a little too long since the last trip. I started counting down the days till I would be walking down main street again and just couldn't wait that long.

That is when the decision to abandon the parents and head to Euro Disney came to life.

It's time to cure the itch...
