Only 'Family' photos show on Memory Maker?

I'm pretty sure I just got bad information from a CM. Please help!

I purchased memory maker for our upcoming trip, and it is showing in my MDE account with me as the manager. I have 15 people in my Friends and Family list managed by different people (sister's family, our multiple accounts, niece's friend with an AP, etc.) I called for help making sure that everyone's photos will show up on my Memory Maker, i.e. all photos taken for any magic bands linked to any of the people in my Friends and Family list.

The first time I called the system was down. Very nice CM said to call back later and they could check the settings and permissions. The next time I called, I was told that all I had to do was move everyone to the "Family" section, and I would capture all of their photos. She said that I would not see photos for people/bands linked in the 'Friends' category, but all 'Family' would show up automatically. I also asked about settings or permissions and she said there were none. I double checked because these were both different than everything I had heard before, and she was very clear.

So, is this true? MM will capture photos for all people shown in your "Family" list (but not "Friends"), regardless of settings, permissions, or who manages their account? I thought they had to somehow 'share' their photos with me?

I also asked about how to retrieve the photos and she said to use the memory maker link in the MDE account, but that just takes me to a page to purchase another MM. I assume the photos will actually appear in the Photopass section, correct? How long does it take them to start appearing? At this point, I won't believe it is actually working until I start seeing them show up!

Folks share MM all the time. There is a way to allow all who are sharing to see all photos. That's how people split the cost of MM.
You can check it all yourself though, no need to call anyone. I don't trust those folks any further than I can throw them
Just look in all the various MDE accounts and be sure the button is checked so you share photos with friends and family. I forget the exact wording used on the website but it's clear if you see if what it's asking you. Just check that on all accounts.

They can be in either the Family or Friends section and you will still be able to see their photos.

My understanding of MM is that there are two settings that are important.
You and any of your connected friends that you want to have their pictures included in MM need to set the following to selected:
View all my activities
This friend can view and purchase my PhotoPass photos

For managed profiles, sharing is based on the MDE account that manages them.

Once the trip is over and all photos downloaded, you can change it to 'only view shared activities' if you wish.

Thanks erionm. I have now set it up so the managers of both main accounts can "View all my activities" and "view and purchase my PhotoPass photos" for each other. This way, a MM assigned to one manager should capture the photos for magic bands of all the accounts managed by either of the two, correct?

Correct.

As for viewing/downloading the pictures, you use the 'Disney PhotoPass' link in MDE. It could take up to 30 minutes before pictures taken by a PhotoPass photographer appear.

We just got back from a trip on Tuesday. I could see and download pictures from my memory maker each evening. I'm not sure how quickly they were uploaded because I didn't check during the day.

This trip was me, my DH (with his own acct) and my DD. All the pictures that DH took without me showed up in my account with no problems.

Be aware that if you have a lot of photos on MM, doing multiple 'download all' will bug the system. Also, only the 'owner' of MM can do the edits and downloads. If your sister edits her photos, they won't be saved under the MM. She would need to edit thru your account or you will have to do them for her. I found a great 1$ e-book that explain MM sharing with friends and family very well with screen captures. PM me if you want the link to purchase it as I'm not sure I can put it here.

This thread has me nervous! Last trip when magic bands and FP+ was just beginning, I didn't have my FIL and MIL properly linked and it was a pain trying to get FP+ on the go because I had to access all sorts of accounts to try and do them.

This trip I am determined to have it go as smoothly as possible, including the MM! Me, DH, MIL, and FIL all have our own accounts (I made FIL's since the last trip just to try to make things right). I just went to FIL's account and I think I have all the right boxes checked. Under his reservations I can see the MM I purchased, so things should be all good, right?

We just returned last weekend from a family trip to WDW. I purchased the MM before we left and everyone's photos showed up. Can I download the pictures and video clips before I do any editing? Or is it a one time shot? Can I keep going back to put on additional borders and stickers and then download again? When I look at the pictures it say they will be available until August 12, 2015. Does that mean I can keep downloading and editing until then? I am a bit confused. Thanks for any advice you can give me!

Don't be nervous about this. Some of my son's shots weren't showing, and a quick stop at one of the photo places at AK and the CM had it fixed in seconds.

It can take longer even, but it's usually very fast. I jumped the gun and use the online form to report lost photos when I didn't see certain ride photos about 4 hours after being taken. By the time they replied about one day after they were taken, they said "it appears the photos described are already included in your account". It had just been slow to appear, not "lost" oops!

For others in your group who also have MDE accounts, you need to check "this person can view and purchase my photos" next to their name in your Friends and Family list AND they should click the same option under your name in their Friends and Family list. Then, yes, everything should magically appear in the Photopass area of your MDE for everyone.

You can download as many times as you want before the pictures expire (which is 45 days after each picture was taken) I do recommend downloading an unedited set before doing all your edits. My problem was, I couldn't find anywhere to download a batch of photos - it was either "download all" or download each picture one at a time. The site is slow and photos are large, requiring zip files for groups of photos, so I think you'll find it *easier* to do one download, edit everything and do just one more download. But you *can* do individuals as often as you like.

Yeah, I did a share last Holiday season and it was a rather large share and with it being Holiday time, there were a lot of pictures. It ended up being too much for the system to download period. They ended up sending our group an free CD. I 2nd the ebook for those with families and multiple MDE accounts. The more I read about stuff like this the more I'm glad I've "forbidden" DH from making his own account. He doesn't even have a clue that MDE exists. He thinks our trips come together via Pixie Dust

What if only 1 person has a MDE account? If they are split up to 2 different events, will the photos just got to the 1 main account? Is it the same with Fp?
