My friend is going on a 3 day trip to WDW. It will be her, DH, MIL. FIL, & her two kids (ages 6 & 8-girl & boy).

ETA: They are going the first week in March!

Which park would you skip: DAK or DHS?

Thanks!

I'm not a great person to be commenting, since we're planning our first trip and have no direct experience. But my kids are around the same ages and they're more excited for AK than HS, given that they love animals. Maybe suggest that they look at some of the rides online and see which set appeals more?

I would get park hoppers and do one full day at MK, one full day at Epcot, and park-hop from HS to AK or vice versa. With Pandora and ROL now, decision is more difficult. Before that, we would start at AK then hop to HS.

Agree with csjordan. If possible, I'd get park hopper and split AK and HS. If I couldn't hop, and had to pick one of those two to skip, it would depend on the kids. Are they thrill seekers? Are they animal lovers? Then it would be HS or AK respectively. If they were both and loved everything, personally, I think I'd skip AK...but I wouldn't be happy about it.

I will get boos but I am going to suggest skipping both AK and HS. Do MK on two days and Epcot in the middle.

btw getting each person a park hopper would add ~$360 to your trip for one day of hopping? No.

I'd do 2 mk and 1 Epcot just because park hoppers are so pricey.

We have 3.5 days on our upcoming trip but we are AP holders and DVC. We're park hopping a lot just to get all the big rides done.

I would do 2 days at Epcot and in between I would do a resort Day, but that's just me :)

I wish people would stop saying this. The closed Lights Motors action, the play area (when was the last time Honey I Shrunk the kids was relevant?), and the Tram tour (Like the play area, a bit dated. Pearl Harbor? Judge Doom?)

Thank you for clearing it up for me. :thanks:

H.S. is probably my least favorite right now. They have closed a lot of attractions. I would do 2 MK days and one AK days. I feel like just 1 MK day is never enough.

Epcot is also a "meh" park to me. We ride Nemo and the Mexico ride and we're done. Maybe the new Frozen ride will prove fun, but not a whole day park for us. It is much more geared towards grown ups. Be prepared for bored children.

I agree with getting a park hopper and splitting AK and HS, I can't imagine skipping any of them so I didn't vote because I just couldn't choose. I guess it would depend on the mix of the party and their like and dislikes.

It depends what kind of rides they like, as PP mentioned. For me, we love Tower of Terror, Toy Story Mania and Star Tours as well as the Star Wars fireworks show, so I would never miss HS!
But we also like doing a half day at AK to get on Everest, the Safari, Dinosaur and the Rapids.
Maybe splitting a half day at each park might work unless they can do without rides at one of those parks

I love the feel of Animal Kingdom, but I just love Fantasmic. I haven't seen Rivers of Light. But to me Fantasmic is a must, it's the nightshow that is the most Disney to me. And that with Beauty and the Beast, the other shows and rides as Toy Story and Tower of Terror, I can easily fill a whole day. My vote goes to HS

Park hoppers would be my first choice and half day at each. If that is not an option, then I would probably go for DHS, especially if you have a Star Wars fan in the group. If Star Wars is not a draw, then I'd go with AK.

I guess I'm a little biased since I love DHS, but I just don't feel that AK has as many rides or experiences as DHS. The selling points for DHS for me are the restaurants, Fantasmic, and all the cool Star Wars Experiences along with RnR and TOT

I would skip DHS, but not as a slight to DHS... my family loves animals/zoos, so DAK would get the nod.

But it depends on what you want to see/do. For example: if you are focused on rides, skipping both DAK and DHS in favor of more time in MK/EPCOT makes the most sense.

Depends on If They like Animals, Or Do they like HWS Rides? Ex. Star Wars, TOT, Toy Story. As has been suggested already, could do a Half-Day at each?
