online reservation extension?

I've a reservation in Sept for 4 nights. Can I add 1 night to the reservation now, online. or do I have to make a totally new reservation for 5 nights, or do I have to call MS?

You can book the one night, and then call member services to join the reservations later.

Unfortunately you cannot modify a reservation online. You can call MS to have that additional night added to your existing reservation. Or, as the PP stated, you can book that single night online as a new reservation and call MS (or send them an email) to have your new reservation merged into your initial reservation.

You could also book a new 5-night reservation online and then cancel the original reservation online as well. If don't have enough points to book the 5-night stay without cancelling your original reservation and you are booking a high-demand resort or a high-demand time of year, there is some risk of losing everything.
