Online hotel check-in: how?

Aloha...I've seen several recommendations to check-in to the Aulani online in order to avoid lines when we arrive. We'll be arriving in 6 days (!). Can anyone tell me how to check-in online? Will I receive an email? I reserved a one-bedroom villa through the hotel itself (not DVC). Mahalo!

we were there a few weeks ago (still working on finishing my trip report below). i tried to check in online the day before our arrival, but could not do so--got an error message about how the system was down. i tried again the next morning but it still didn't work, so we showed up at 4:30 p.m. on a sunday afternoon, and were glad to see there was practically no line. it didn't seem detrimental that i did not check in online first.

in any case, here's the URL to do so online (if it works): http://mydisneyreservation.com/aulani/

now if you're getting a car rental from alamo at the honolulu airport, that's a whole different story. you'll definitely want to check in online before your arrival. be sure to use their "skip the counter" option as it will save you lots of time.

good luck and have a great time!

Great - thanks, jtba. And yes, we're renting from Alamo at HNL, so I will definitely take that advice (although rented through Costco so not sure I can?) Thanks again :)

we did ours through costco too, actually, so it makes no difference.

We reserved our car from Alamo through our travel agent. She told us we wouldn't be eligible for the skip the line check-in because we booked it through her. I would imagine Costco would be considered a TA, or at least a booking through a third party. Any insight on how it works for a TA booking? What information is required to check-in online with them? I know Alamo does not have our rewards number on this particular booking. Thanks!

(sorry to hijack!)

hmm that sounds bizarre. all i needed on that screen was the first and last name plus the confirmation number.

are you getting a better deal through your TA for the car rental? if you're not, would you consider having her cancel it and book directly yourself? it really wasn't that complicated.

alternatively, maybe just have her do the online check-in for you, then have her email you the confirmation printout with the barcode. seriously it took less than 3 minutes to fill out the stuff online. she should bend over backwards to help you.

Thanks for the reply. The rate she has me booked at is cheaper than I've found online (no Costco membership) so I'm inclined to stick with it. I believe my paperwork has a confirmation number so I'll try the online check-in anyway. Do you need to be an Alamo rewards member to do it or is it available to anyone?

that makes sense. hmm, i don't remember if you have to be a rewards member. i never was, until i signed up for our trip. so you can sign up now too, then add the info in the online reservation if applicable.

good luck! :)
