I was doing some research on the side effects of Vicodin (I'm currently suffering with a kidney stone :guilty: ) and stumbled upon several different google ad's for online pharmacies. Out of curiosity, I looked at a few of them and there was a message board where people were ordering Vicodin, Xanax and other drugs and I wondered is this safe and why do people choose to order drugs over the internet? Some of the sites I found required no prescriptions or anything..that just seems crazy to me!!

I guess what I'm wondering is are they safe and why do people choose to use them instead of seeing their regular physician?

Well, the easy answer is that people are addicted to that type of drug..

But, the answer beyond Vicodin, is that people use these pharmacies so that they can afford their medicines from overseas pharmacies, whereas they cannot afford them here in this country...

Another downside of internet pharmacies is you have no guarantee that you are actually getting the drug that you order.

FYI - I tore up a prescription for 120 vicodin and threw a bunch of them down the toilet a couple of years ago. They did nothing for me and the side effects were a bigger problem than the pain in my ankle. Lets just say that I was singing the constipation blues for several days.

I don't take any of the ones you listed; however, I do order some medicines online. Some are even cheaper than I pay with an insurance co-pay, and some OTC meds like Actifed (cold/allergy), you can no longer buy in Arkansas (thanks to the Meth cooks). My actifed I get from Canada and an arthritis med I get from Mexico. Before Medicare got a program together for the elderly, I ordered several of my mom's prescription meds from Canada. The cost was about 1/3 of what she was paying in the US.

I certainly realize that a lot of people use the pharmacies legitimately because the prices are cheaper, but like Towncrier pointed out, how are you sure they are actually the drug you ordered? I think that would be my biggest concern, like ordering Sudafed (or whatnot) and getting something completely different!!

can't afford to see a Doctor, have a phobia of seeing a Doctor, are embarrassed to talk to a Doctor about a personal problem, can't find a Doctor to write them a prescription for the drug they think they need, can't afford to pay US retail prices or they just want to click a few buttons and be done with it....

We are close enough to Canada that Senior Citizens groups around here arrange bus tours to travel to Canada to pick up their prescriptions. However, reputable Canadian pharmacies still require a valid Doctor's prescription.

In my case, it is the same exact medicine, same packaging, same result. I have had very good luck, I guess.

I would be very careful of these places. I have seen programs on the prime time news shows like 20/20, etc. where the government is watching who buys what and you are guilty of a crime if you purchase controled substances without a prescription. Vicodin is in that catagory as well as most pain meds.
