I'm heading with the wife and sons to the BWV's on May 4th. I know Disney now has the online checkin. My question is has anyone used it? What has been your experience with it? Will I have a better chance of getting the location I requested?

Used it 3 weeks ago at the Boardwalk and it was fine. Quick and painless. They didn't even ask for ID. :confused3

Made the request to be near transportation and they put us 3 doors down from the elevator, so it seems as if my request worked!
 
Where on the site do u see the online check in. The only thing i can click on is the "celebration" ? How long before our vacation can you use the online check ?
 
you can use online check in 10 days prior to your arrival. Go to DVC website, logon and click on vacation points, then vacation detail. The icon to check in shows up when you're 10 days out. Just did this for Vero... we'll see how it goes... only "request" allowed was ground floor!!

we used it at BWV on 4/16...very easy...we were meeting my son & his girlfriend there and wanted to make sure our cc was on file for expenses:) since they were arriving before hubby and I. We had a standard view studio and had made only one request..highter floor...my son had no problems checking right in and we were assigned a room on the 4th floor....so for us it worked well

Ok, I thought something was wrong with the room request icon, because that was all that showed up for me also when I checked into Vero this morning.

When I checked into Kidani Village yesterday, it didn't give me any options at all for requests.
 
I don't understand the benefit of the online check in. I used it in March and still had to wait in line at the AKV to check into my room and register. We are going back to AKK on May 8th. Am I missing something in the benefit of the online check in? Of course I will do it again..lol
 
This option is not available for members using incentive points...and I am only using 1 point! I am going to call Member services and see if they can do it online for me or at least put a note on my file to say I will be arriving early.

Just off the phone w/MS and members staying on incentive points CAN do on-line checkin just not thru member website. The website to go to is: www.mydisneyreservation.com/dvc
 
Reports are that there are very limited choices for room requests, and that if you select any of them they override the requests you put on the initial reservation. Haven't heard difinitely if you leave the room requests blank if folks are still getting the requests they added through MS.

I'm all for jumping in and trying new things, but I think I'm going to go ahead and check in normally this summer.
 
If you've rented points from a DVC member, you can also access the online check-in via the www.mydisneyreservation.com/dvc web site. You can also use this link to check the details of the reservation, and to add celebration info. The member no longer needs to do this for you.

We used online check in for Vero - made 2 requests on the original reservation, none on the online check in... both our requests from the original reservation were met. Just our experience, but may have just been luck of the draw??

I'm pretty sure it will lessen your chances of getting any requests you made. The online checkin deletes your requests, I believe. I asked the CM that question at checkin a couple of weeks ago and she confirmed that your requests go away unless they are booking categories like "near HH" at OKW.

The CM told me the only purpose of online checkin was that it allowed them to get your checkin package ready ahead of time in order to reduce lines and wait time. That part seems to be working, because when we walked into OKW at a little after 4 PM, I walked right up to the desk -- no line at all.
