Online checkin using rewards card?

I have redeemed enough rewards points from my Disney Visa to pay the entire balance on my room only reservation. We arrive in approximately 3 weeks and I wanted to do online checkin using that rewards card to payoff the balance. Is this offered as an option? The system asks for the cc I would like on file for MB charging which is fine, but I didn't want to go further through the process and have the room balance charged to that card. Experiences with this? Should I just call?

All I know about the rewards card is that it is considered a gift card and can't be entered as if it was a credit card.

When you enter a cc on the online check in it is just for room charges and as a security for incidentals (or perhaps a no show). For room only you pay the balance when actually checking in in person, thus direct to room also not an option on room only (unless you have called to pay off balance). Just use your rewards card when checking in at the desk. You can always call Disney directly (or your TA) to pay off the balance using your rewards card before physical check in if you want.

Canyoncams suggestion of calling to prepay of your reservation using your rewards points sounds like the easiest solution in this case.

We had a similar scenario, a room only reservation that DH wanted to pay off using his rewards card. We just called reservations and had them process the payment. They were even able to see the rewards card balance and apply the extra credit to the room. It was only a couple of days before check in when we did it.

I know that before MDE, if I did online check in with a room only reservation and provided a credit card that my room balance was paid with the credit card I provided during online check in. I checked in at about 11 am and my card had already been charged. Now, I have not been since MDE has been in place, but would be cautious that any balance might be applied to the card on file from online check in.

You could be right. I have always changed my form of payment when I check in physically and until this year never did online banking so never saw a charge on my cc. Though it seems funny if it was really CHARGED that I never saw both the charge and refund on my statements. And let me tell you I went over those statements with a fine tooth comb.

ETA Could it be a pending charge and if you do change payments it is voided? In that case I would only worry if card on file is debit card.

It was a credit card and it probably was just pending at the time I checked in since it had been ran that day. I usually did not check until a day or so later.
