Online checkin approval is so random

We are sailing on the Magic 7/20 and 7/25. Did online checkin at the 38 day mark for both. Used the same pics of my passport that have been approved probably 15 times. The passport pic for the 7/20 sailing was rejected. The exact same pic for the 7/25 sailing was approved.

Just shows how some cast members are much more picky than others when they are approving the passport pics.

Yep, same thing here. A picture that had been approved for a few cruises got rejected for another. :confused3

I just had an approval within 11 hours of check-in. I was shocked how crazy fast it was this time.

I had this once but with a picture of my ESTA authorisation, as I’d used it with no issues multiple times before I decided to just re upload the same picture again and it got approved a couple of days later

The inconsistency is really frustrating— like others, I’ve had previously approved pictures be rejected. I don’t understand why Disney can’t give us the option of keeping our passport and photo info on file for a year— would be an extra perk for those of us who cruise more than once a year to check in faster and get better BG numbers.

My husband’s passport info has been saved for probably 10 cruises. My info has someone else’s info in there - I have to remove every time and replace with my passport info.

I just thought the approval process was so random because one cruise of my B2B was approved and the second cruise, the pic was rejected. Same pic. Different CM doing the approval process.

I wonder why Disney needs online check-in at all. It was started during Covid when we had to produce all of the shot and test documents and it was sensible to minimize face-to-face contact at the port. But now, all we're uploading is a passport image and a selfie, both of which are often randomly rejected, as previous posters have noted and then waiting weeks for "approval", adding needless stress.

On our last two cruises we had to go through a process where we lined up to get all of our documents got reviewed by a live person behind a counter. This is after we had done online check-in and received approval. At Port Everglades on our last cruise we had to do it twice because there were "computer problems". I don't see how online check-in serves any useful purpose beyond needlessly aggravating passengers.

Check-in at the port used to be a quick (maybe five-minute) process and worked seamlessly. I don't see why Disney can't return to that. They can allow us to choose PAT's when we register for a cruise. All we have to do then is show up on time, have our documents quickly reviewed, and board the ship.

Online check-in serves as a reminder to make sure all needed documents are ready before a cruise. I have seen numerous articles about people who found out on departure day that they couldn’t take a planned trip because they, for example, didn’t realize their passports were about to expire. Since the check-in process can be completed without final approval on all documents, if you know your documents are good, you shouldn’t feel stress. If, on the other hand, your documents can’t be uploaded at all, that may indicate a genuine problem that you have a month to address before your cruise.

My last 3 cruises have been from Port Canaveral and Southampton, and it took very little time in line to show my documents before sitting for a longer time waiting to board. If check-in also needed to include presenting forms of payment for each guest (which it did before that was done online), it would take much longer.
