Online Check in

What are the advantages of online check in? We are a group of two families and have requested joining rooms at POP. We will arrive at hotel hours before room will probably be ready. We plan on eating and hanging at the pool till we can actually get into our room.

First, if you are requesting a door in between the rooms, you need to change the request to connecting and not “joining”. Connecting and adjoining mean different things in hotel-speak - all connecting rooms adjoin each other but not all adjoining rooms connect.

That said, online check-in MAY allow you to skip the front desk and give them an idea of your arrival time. Just DO NOT make any requests on the online check-in page as it will negate whatever else you have requested. And DO NOT check the “early arrival is more important” box.

I always do online check in. I'd say in my last 8 stays all but twice I received the "your room is ready" text before I arrived at the resort and was able to go straight to my room. Last week I never received a text when checking into BC. But when I checked the MDE app it showed my room number at 9:50am. So I went straight to the room. If you're not happy with the rooms assigned you can stop at the desk and see if they could switch it.
