Just wondering-if we don't like the room assignment we got (assuming it's texted to us), can we just go to the front desk when we get to the resort? We've only gotten the "Direct to the room" text one time, and that room assignment was OK, but I was wondering what happens if you don't like it. Are you able to try to switch?

We have checked into BLT and OKW on this trip, and in each case we got "room not ready" mail, but not "room ready."

I asked for first floor or Elevator building due to difficulty climbing stairs. We got a nice first floor studio in building 15!

Terrific to hear! We made the same requests-first floor or elevator since I'll have an ECV, and I'd be thrilled with building 15.

Agreed! We stayed at OKW 12/15 - 12/26. I requested a Peninsular Road Bldg upper floor. We were given #3732 on the far end of Turtle Pond Road. You know what? not so bad!

I love online check in. I didn't have to go to the front desk once during our stay! The morning of checkout they emailed my bill to me.

You got that right. As a group DVC members seem to feel more entitled than the general population and that's saying something. DVC seems to be less willing to change people now than in the past though it seems. Part of the compromise of a timeshare is getting the dumpster view at BRV or the BWV pool view blocked by a tree or the Ocean view at Aulani where you have to look across to see it. This is the nature of the beast and anyone who's not OK with that shouldn't participate. While I think the one area DVC does a good job on requests is "for medical reasons", those who really need a certain option should simply get a HC room or be prepared to take the risk of not getting the request.

It's a little like the people that assume "quiet pool" means the kids are supposed to be quiet. This is not the intent when labeled this way.

(Somewhat) speaking of, has anyone heard of requesting a *non*-HA room for medical reasons? I don't have any officially diagnosed back issue, but there are times where I become almost unable to walk and need an actual tub. I'm just curious if I've been wasting my time asking for that or if I'm more likely to confuse the assigner into giving the HA room because that's the only part that caught their eye.

Back in the day I only had 2 requests, non smoking and NOT a HA villa. I don't recall getting a HA villa when not requested to have one (needed it a couple of times) or early before I learned to request not to have one. As a rule I'd rather not go than get a HA villa so it is important to us.

Actually we got a HA room once and I really had needed the tub for my arthritis. Unfortunately when I went to the front desk, the CM told me, "Well, you're DVC now-a tub is just a request." Fortunately this wasn't OKW

Definitely saw a desk tantrum while I was at Disney in October. Someone was NOT happy about Pago Pago.
