Online check in???

Hi there~ Heading to the World next week for 1st stay at BLT. Staying in a park view studio. Have never used Online check in and wondered what are the advantages/disadvantages of checking in online?? Will be arriving mid morning and realize room probably will not be ready so will be storing luggage and heading out. I had pulled a few rooms numbers off of the boards, but am always afraid to ask for a specific room -- usually just let the CM assign the best available - wondering if the Online Check has any impact on the room that we will get??

When I've done online check-in my room has been ready by about 10am about 50% of the time.. The room keys are pre-printed and welcome packets are ready. Also, if you enter a CC number, it is slightly more secure than handing the card to the CM, as the system will show a credit card has been used, but will not show the CM the entire number on the card. There have been a few...very few... instances of bad CMs scanning the card for illicit purposes when you hand them the card. With the current state of the economy, protect your info as much as possible.

WE have done it for the past few times, and like that things are ready to go when we get there.

So far, we have had great luck with rooms being ready when we arrive or shortly thereafter. Not sure this has to do with online check in or not, but it certainly didn't hurt.

We don't put a CC on file so didn't need to worry about that. Got our packet, got our KTTW cards, and off we went to the parks. It was simply and easy.

Thanks!! : ) We will be coming from Universal so will probably arrive mid morning - earlier than typical check in, so it might be worth it to try the online check in and hope our room is ready. : ) It would be great to hear any additional thoughts/experiences

I have never used the online check-in, not comfortable with change! I am going to try it for our December trip just to see if it makes a difference. As PP said, it probably doesn't hurt.
