Online check-in?

So I sound like my grandparents probably by even asking this, but what is the advantage to online check-in? We fly tomorrow out of O'Hare and I just got the email saying that I could check-in online. We're playing to do curbside check-in for our bags, so not having to stand in the line inside the terminal isn't an advantage. I'm just curious to hear if there is any other reasons that I'm not aware of.

Well I fly SW so seating is determend by when you check-in for what line you get to get in.

Other flights when they over book they start bumping by when you checked in most of the time.

I Love on-line check in!:thumbsup2

I used it for the first time this March with Jet Blue. It was so...nice to print out our boarding passes with our confirmed seating from home 24 hrs before we flew. When I checked in, it made the process so....easy and the jet blue counter staff thanked me for using the service. It made their job a lot easier too! When I looked around in the check-in line, at least 10 other people around me had done the same. Try it, you will like it and it is one less thing you will have to worry about when you get to the airport! I find checking my bags stressful enough! :rotfl2:

Can you curbside check-in if you've checked in online? I'm 5 months pregnant traveling with my 2 yo DD, my mother, and a ton of bags (plus a stroller, carseat, etc.), so curbside check-in is essential!

I don't see why not we check our bags in all the time after On-line check-in.

Some time we do curbside or just go to a section just for Bag check. At MCO we just get one of the Bag helpers to take our bags right to the front of the line and after we wait our bags are right there. We have to reprint our BPs as well as I check-in using my CellPhone.

One of the big things is that the earlier you check in the earlier you are confirmed on the flight. I believe that involuntary bumping (though rare) happens with the person who checked in the latest, but also depends on the fare of the ticket.....

I always use online check in and still check my bags at the airport. Sun Country airlines allows on-line check in folks to check bags via the VIP line, so we get to skip the line at the counter.....

Correct!

(you're such a seasoned, knowledgeable flyer, Duds....) ;)

We do the online check in because that is when the exit row seats become available to be reserved. We check in at the 24 hour mark and grab that extra room.

What airline do you fly? The airlines I have flown require you to physically get to the airport to get exit row seats. Flying United this Friday and would love to move up to exit rows. The only problem is that we are flying on frequent flyer miles and the exit rows are up in the economy plus section.....
