Online check in worth it?

We'll be arriving at POP next saturday. We are flying from Europe with 2 kids (12 and 9). We'll arrive around 8:30pm. With the time difference probably with 2 very tired kids. I ordered magicbands but need to pick them up at reception (as they don't shop them to Europe). I put through a room request via touringplans. Is it needed and worth it to do through the online checkin prior to our arrival? I'm asking because I do not want anything to mess with my room request submitted through touringplans AND i will still need to pass by reception for the magicbands in any case. Of course our kids would want to go to sleep asap.

If you have to stop by the front desk anyway, I’d recommend just checking in there as well. I assume by “arrive around 8:30pm” you mean at Pop, and at that time it shouldn’t be too busy.

The only time we have found online check-in useful was when we were arriving with a gaggle of other guests on DME. We did online check-in while on the bus to avoid standing in a long line.

Arrival at MCO at 18:40pm. We're taking an uber to POP. The only reason why I would do it is because I would want to let hem know our estimated arrival (and it being in the evening).

I like doing online checkin for the same reason - so I can let them know what time we expect to arrive. You can just skip the room request section so that your TP request isn’t overwritten. Hopefully, having all the credit card info submitted, which is the major part of online checkin, will speed things up at the front desk when you pick up your MBs.

ETA - if you have a smart phone, and you get your room number before you arrive at the resort, you could probably use your phone to enter your room and get those tired kids headed toward bed before you go down to the front desk to pick up MBs. Of course, they may be too excited about arriving and insist on picking up those MBs before going to the room!
