Online check-in with linked ressie?

I have a linked reservation for this coming weekend (1 night on first ressie, 3 nights on 2nd ressie) and just did the online check-in for the first ressie. Do I need to do the online check-in for the second ressie too or is that covered with the link? I think it's the latter, but want to make sure.

Not sure of situation, usually when you link reservations you end up with only one ressie number, the one made first. If you still have two separately numbered reservations, I wonder if they are actually linked. In any event, as long as they are actually linked, there should be no issue and you check-in only the once on-line.

What is the advantage of linking a reservation? I have a split stay coming up where I did not "link" the reservations. I'm wondering if I should.

Split stays, meaning two different resorts, will usually have two different reservation numbers and they don't get linked. Often someone (or even two different members who will be staying together in same room) will make two reservations for the same size room at the same resort under two different contracts and use years, reserving some nights under one contract and the remaining nights under the other contract and MS links the reservations making them one. The result is that you do not have to change rooms and your reservation window for restaurants starts 180 days out from the date of initial arrival rather than having two start dates which would happen if half the trip has one reservation number and the second half had another.

I think I'd just wait until check in and verify at that time that they have you checking out on the correct day. Linking should mean that you only have to check in once. However, I'd say that 50% of the time even when checking in at the desk they still get it incorrect and show us checking out at the end of the first reservation. When I point out the link and the correct check out day they've always been able to see the link and get it corrected.

Interesting, I have done separate ressies under two use years for same size room at same resort, but for different days of the trip, many times and then had them linked and after doing so, they always have sent me a new reservatioln confirmation with one number (the first one reserved) for the entire trip.
