I have a couple of questions regarding online check-in. First, what is the latest that you can do it? And second, is it actually even required?
One of our party is having trouble getting his passport and has had to resort to making an in person appointment to get it issued. Problem is the appointment is 2 days prior to sailing. Does Disney close the online check-in portal at some point prior to the sail date, and if so when? If they do close it before he is able to get his passport, can he just show up at the port on embarkation day and do all the check-in stuff there?

Thanks

I believe they close it 3 days before the cruise but I could be wrong. If the person is a US citizen they can check in with a driver’s license and birth certificate and then show the passport at the port.

Check the Navigation App: it states when online must be completed. As explained by PP, you must have a PAT in order to arrive and get tested prior to being allowed into the terminal. If you're not allowed into the building, how can you "just show up at the port on embarkation day and do all the check-in stuff there?" ?

They lie. You'll probably be the last people allowed on the ship but they're not going to deny you boarding for failure to complete online check-in.

@scobarb, you really need to call/chat with DCL about your party's situation and not rely on this board. The embarkation requirements are posted as to the requirements before arriving at the terminal. A " You'll probably be " is not written into the requirements. Call DCL!!

You're talking nonsense. They'll 100% be allowed to board. My "probably be" was in reference to their boarding time, not whether they'll be allowed to sail.

Many, MANY guests are not internet savvy and show up to the port having never heard of online check-in.

But yes, I do agree that they should call DCL and explain the situation. Always over-communicate.

I was able to get through on the phone and speak to someone. They confirmed that online check-in is not required and that we could complete check-in at the port. They did caution that there may indeed be a wait while they are boarding all the people with PAT's. They assured me quite adamantly that no one was going to be denied boarding for failing to complete online check-in.

Excellent information and thank you for sharing.

We booked through a travel agency and everything is correct in the travel confirmation. But when we log into the Disney Cruise Line homepage or app, the names are mismatched and also mismatched in the respective staterooms. Could this cause us problems at check-in? Or could that be clarified on site at the port, because everything is ok in the booking confirmation.

It will likely cause problems at check in and it WILL cause problems with matching your vaccination documents with the guests for safe passage. My youngest has a Feb 7th birthday but it was somehow uploaded as july 2nd so initially safe passage rejected his PCR test as the birthdates did not match
