Online check-in frustration

I think I've read before that the Room Request box doesn't even transfer to the resort room assignor, which is irritating enough on its own. But I have tried to enter something in the Room Request popup on 3 different browsers tonight for our check in and the stupid box doesn't even have an area to enter anything. So why even have the Room Request function on the page?!?!?!?!

Rant over...

It's a function of the program which was designed for CRO check ins, and not DVC. Since DVC is using the same program, it just seems strange, but there is no active box because there are no DVC requests that can be made that way.

All requests need to be made with MS so they can attach it to your reservation.

So if you make the request with MS and still do on-line check-in, the blank request on the on-line does not overrule the request with MS, right? In other words, your request with MS is still "safe" (even though, not guaranteed ;)). Is this correct?

This is exactly why I didn't do on-line check-in at HHI in the fall. I was afraid since I couldn't put anything in the request box, that I would lose the request I had made with MS.

You are correct, online check in requests do not apply to the DVC, the MS request is still there and is the only one that matters.

They must have changed it since September, as I did online checkin and requested a first floor room (aunt staying with us, she can't climb stairs) and it went through just fine. There aren't many requests you can make in their system (nor in the regular room system, as we did that, too), but that was one of them and it was fine.

By the way, my frustration came from a systems perspective. I don't think adding the few lines of code it would take to accommodate the DVC reservations would be that hard. And I'm not saying to handle requests online - I'm saying to either block out the option for room requests or put a different message in the popup box when it's a DVC reservation so someone doesn't think they're crazy trying to enter something when it's not available.

This is what I commonly refer to as a technical "DUH"!

I ran into an identical issue yesterday when I checked in online. I called MS to confirm that my room requests were still on my reservation, and they stated that they were.

MS cast member said that it's a bug in the system that there is a box to make a room request that you can not actually utilize on the web site.
