Online check in changes

Thank you, jtdl, for the POP list. That makes me very happy!!

I like the options but find them odd/excessive. Giving more choices is going to make it more complicated on assigners, no?
I booked a King room. It's a bookable category at the Mod resorts.
Why is it also a choice for online check in? Makes sense for it as an option at the other categories but not at Mod.

And now that they've added Guaranteed Connecting rooms they are going to have to place guests in them. That little word, Guaranteed, is going to make it hard to not offer one.

And is it really necessary to offer lower floor and ground floor? When you are talking a 2 story building?

It's interesting that "Connecting Rooms (guaranteed)" is now an option. Do we think they're *really* guaranteed if you choose *that* option as compared to the just plain "connecting rooms" option????? I also find it interesting that Baby Gate is a booking option. First of all, I never even knew they offered baby gates. And second, do you really need to make that a check-in option? Couldn't you just call housekeeping for one when you get there????? I never made "bed rails" a request on my reservation -- I just asked for them at check-in. I would think the baby gates would work the same way and you wouldn't need to allot one of your room requests to that. :confused3

And better yet, why do you need a baby gate in a hotel room? Where exactly do you use one?

The POFQ options
(seems like an excessive number of options)

I know on some check ins, you could request preferred buildings even if you weren't booked in a preferred. Or a pool/water view even though you didn't book that way. So it was kind of/almost like a wasted request if you were to choose it..maybe the same goes for a king bed choice?

Wow. Those are a lot of options.

I know! I don't get why they put so many in there. Some are flat out strange.
And if they are going to put all those choices, why leave out River View?

It would be nice if we could write like one sentence on what requests we wanted along with checking the ones they have listed.

Here are the options at the Grand Floridian, tons of options! My guess is that connecting rooms (gaurenteed) or any of the gaurenteed options if you pick those probably over rule any other things you pick as well as any requests you may have made when booking. If you just pick connecting rooms, but it's not a gaurenteed pick then if they can't give you that, they give you your next option?

I'm not sure, I'd love connecting rooms but it doesn't out weight my other choice, so I'm not sure yet what I'll go with!

If anyone is able to post the choices at Coronado Springs that would be great :)

I am going to look into this tonight as I think when I logged in over the weekend I had an online check in option.

Personally I kind of like the old fashion way of doing it at the desk and talking to a person. You know what is your number one choice and then on the spot you could talk over the better of the rooms they have open. It take something away from the experience of arriving at a resort/hotel by going to the room and letting yourself in.

You are not required to go straight to your room even if you get a room number via text.
You can still go to the counter and talk to them and even get a different room if available.

Good to know. I am staying at AKL in standard view. I noticed they have all the restaurants in one wing. I am pregnant with the nose of a greyhound so I want to be on the other side but I don't think that will be an option, happy I may be able to swap in person.

Awesome, thanks for posting. I was able to change my check-in to request what I wanted most. These are the options for the Yacht Club

I just re-checked-in for our upcoming split at GF and BC CL. The additional options are awesome, but certainly not specific to booked category. BC CL is all 5th floor with exception of Suites and Deluxe rooms. Not sure why "Lower Floor" would be an option. :confused3
No worries, our only request for BC CL is "Large Balcony". :thumbsup2

However, the additional choices for the GF were awesome.

Shoot...I made a request with DVC Member Services for "Adjoining Rooms" for our room and my parents room at Poly next month...mostly because that was never an option offered for online check in. NOW it is. Should I do the online check in and request adjoining rooms?? Or should I just chance that our member services request will work (note: it did NOT work for us at BWV in May. We made a request with MS and got a room that gave us exactly what we asked NOT to have.
