Hi - the bottom of this email from DVC says that online booking is starting on Jan 19th. I didn't realize it was starting so soon.

2013 Vacation Point Charts now available online

Disney Vacation Club® is pleased to announce that 2013 Vacation Point Charts are now available online to help spark your imagination as you dream up next year's vacations.

As you plan your travels, please note that Disney Vacation Club has adjusted the 2013 Vacation Point Charts for Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort and Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa.

The adjustments to the Bay Lake Tower chart stem from a scheduled reassignment of 10 rooms from Theme Park View to Standard View effective Jan. 1, 2013. This shift is based on Member and Guest feedback, and is designed to better reflect the rooms' views. At Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, the Vacation Points required for Treehouse Villas are increasing based on high Member demand.

Increases and decreases within these two Resorts' charts keep the total number of Vacation Points for each Resort unchanged.

Printed charts will appear in a supplement to the annual Vacation Planner Reservation Tools book, scheduled to begin mailing early this spring. In the meantime, you may view the charts online at DVCMember.com. Simply click on the "View Vacation Points Charts" link in the "Plan My Vacation" section of the website.

Also remember that the new Disney Vacation Club Resort online booking tool is scheduled to debut on DVCMember.com on Jan. 19, further enhancing the magic of Membership!

Thanks, I actually deleted the email without reading the last line!

Will online open for the day at the same time as the phoneline to MS?.....Just wondering if online will have a time advantage?

no they should not have an advantage. Why would they?

My guess is that availability will be albe to be checked 24/7 but booking will mirror the old way as far as times it is available.

I would love it if booking were 24/7 but I doubt it will be

I think that online booking will be 24 x 7 after the window opens.

In other words, no one could book at the 11 month window until 9 am Eastern. But after the 11 month window is open for their dates, home resort owners could make their reservations online at any time of the day. (I don't think the system will be up 24 x 7, since nearly all systems need at least occasional downtime for maintenance. But I think it will be up longer than the hours MS is open).

Similarly, non-home resort owners could book online no sooner than 9 am Eastern on the day their 7 month window opens. But after that, booking would be available at any time.

I also think that the system will "evolve". They've already said capacity would be limited at first. I think certain functions will be limited in the initial stages. For example, perhaps those who need to borrow or transfer or use holding points will have to continue to call for a period of time. Perhaps you will need to call if you want a waitlist.

Again, just my thoughts. I have no inside information. :teeth:

I think the online booking will be a mess for quite some time.

If I use it, I will double check everything twice.

Systems are only as strong as the weakest programmer that worked on them.

I don't understand why the lack of faith in online booking? Disney has it for all other resorts for years. Why wouldn't they be able to have it working for DVC? Just curious to why everyone is down on it.

Good point, but I do think it might get hairy because we are not using cash or credit. It will have to be a very complex system in comparison. Hopefully without too many issues. I am actually pretty excited to try it!
