Online Booking experience vs Phone

I am wondering if there is any difference between availability shown in the online booking versus if I call Member Services.

Maybe it's just me but it seems like rooms are full across all resorts more at odd times than they used to be. Mid-January - no studio or 1bed for 3 nights. That is odd.

So has anyone tried booking online unsuccessfully and then called and was able to book? Or the other way around - called and then found a reservation online?

Availability is the same, they see what you see.

Mid January is Marathon weekend followed by MLK weekend, and it's only five months away, so yeah, availability may be scarce... but not that scarce. I just looked and there's studios and 1BR available at SSR, OKW, BWV and probably others from Jan 15-24.
 
I was looking for Jan 9-15. I see the first few days seem to be the busiest.

Good to know no one has seen availablity differences.

From the on-line booking page:
Accommodation inventory is the same whether you book online or through Member Services, except within 10 days of arrival. For close-in bookings, if you do not receive your desired selection, you may contact Member Services.

Jan 9 to 12 is Marathon weekend the very end of the highest (by far) DVC demand quarter (end of Sep through marathon weekend in Jan) of the year when many things can be difficult to get at 7 months out. For DVC that quarter makes the rest of the year look like slow off-season. It is easier to get rooms Easter time and July 4 time than it is during marathon weekend.
 
Wow - didn't know that!
We have stayed the first week of Jan; but not being a runner never did try to get rooms after schools starts in January.

Over the years it seems like it's getting harder to spontaneously get rooms. We usually plan our trips way out so it's not as big of deal.
I have been there at Christmas - and will avoid that from now on.

Good to know that online and member services are the same.

Wonder why it says that within 10 days of check-in availability may differ between MS and online?
