Online ADR's: What about DVC?

I'm not sure how this is going to play out, but figured I could start a thread for discussion.

The online ADR system is now up and running (as of today).

The issue is, as far as I can tell, there is no way to link a DVC reservation number to your "profile", and thus, no way to get the 90+10 benefit using the online system. When entering a DVC reservation number, it comes back as invalid.

Depending on how this all plays out, and when the "turnover" in the system is (one person in the Online ADR thread over in dining says 3 AM), this could severely disadvantage DVC members from booking the harder to get dining locations.

What does everyone think?

The restaurants that you can make ADRs for have a "make reservation" button. Click one and it will bring you to the start of the booking system.

There is some question as to whether the 90+10 functionality is working, yet. Nobody has been able to confirm.

Here is the general discussion thread, over in the restaurants board:

The last pages in the thread obviously contain the most recent discussion.

Essentially you're saying that someone with a CRO reservation can log-on at 3am and book their ADRs on-line and since DVC reservations aren't in their system we have to wait and call 4-6 hours later (7am for the Main dining #, 9am for DVC MS #). Can you still use the WDW-Dine phone number or is it strictly on-line?? If it is just on-line booking CRO would have a full 6 hour jump.

If they cannot come up with a way to make it at least fair to DVC members (i.e. if our DVC system/reservation # isn't recognized by the WDW system) then I would see many complaints coming DVC's way. Maybe then they'd make a "perk" and give DVC members a few days "head start" on ADRs.

Just another example of us and them. And believe me there is a difference.

Hopefully it will be fixed soon, until then Members will have to either call Disney Dining or Member Services to book theirs.

It definitely doesn't recognize DVC reservation numbers.

However, I was just able to book a coveted 9:30 pm time slot at the California Grill for DH's BD! Thanks for the heads up! I had called and wasn't able to get it.

BTW, the reservation is for less then 90 days away so I didn't have to add my DVC reservation number.

You got it. Someone with a CRO ressie (assuming their on-linesystem is working right, at this point..there's no confirmation on whether the 90+10 functionality is working, yet) can hop on at 3AM (that's the report, anyway), book their ADR's, and have a 4 hour head start.

Yes, you can still call WDW-Dine to make ADR's.

Thank you. I hadn't seen that. This should be interesting . . .

.....giving up, assuming all this works out the way it looks like it has....a 4 hour head start to the CRO guests.

Hopefully they will set it that everyone has to be on the same time, 7am Eastern standard time is when Dining Reservations phone center opens to book.

It is not fair to do it any other way. Also hopefully they will tweak the DVC reservation number problem also but then we are talking about Disney tech . :confused3

Wow. What a great system. I just did a 5 day search to try it out. 9/10 to 9/14. It found a prime breakfast opening at the Royal Table. Nice.

In other words, NOT a DVC ressie.

But it's odd. Others, in the thread over on the Dining area, are saying they CAN'T get their ressies to work, and thus, no 90+10, either.

I think it will be a few days, at least, before we get all the info we need.....I'm hoping they don't put the DVC members at a disadvantage in this. But I'm worried they might....

If you are within your 90 days you can use the system. At this time it will not recognize DVC reservations or those made by a Travel Agent and therefore you can not book the 90 days plus 10.

I'm worried they might too. I still can't understand why Disney can't get things working correctly for all guests before they release the product. There is no reason that travel agents should have been able to book prior to 7:00 am during the test period. That shouldn't have happened. It should be 7:00 am for all guests, regardless of how they booked or who they booked with (travel agent, CRO, DVC).

Not to start the whole "DVC" discussion, but it seems as though Disney puts a lot of effort into selling DVC memberships, but not a lot of thought and effort into how people Use DVC memberships. Like the fact that Member Services opens at 9:00, when general reservations opens at 7:00 (at least for dining). Why not open MS at 7:00 and draw some of the crowd away from general reservations? Or open both at 9:00.

Which, ultimately, puts DVC members at a disadvantage, especially for the harder to book places like Chef Mickey's, Cindys for breakfast, and Le Cellier.

Introducing that inequity with the new system is a pretty big issue to be addressed...

My wife spent the better part of 2 hours talking to MS about this.

First, they told her she was crazy....not joking, Crazy. That no such thing existed.

I sent her along the instructions on how to get to the dining area on WDW.com.

She called back, and THIS cm knew about the new system. And after my wife led her through the process, and demonstrated the issue, she was stumped...and concerned.

She's let IT know (who, at first, told her that the system had only been brought up to trial it and then turned off...which obviously it hadn't/hasn't), and they were stumped.

She then tried to contact the CM in charge of the project and....they'd gone home early "not feeling well".

The CM at MS is going to do further research and get back to us tomorrow. She suggested that, if you're a DVC member trying to make ADR's ON your 90 day mark, and your confirmation number doesn't work, to call MS.

Of course, for you to find that out....you'd have to be on at 3 AM, try, fail, and then "lose" the 4 hour head start to the CRO guests who WILL be able to use the system. Not ideal, IMHO.

In our LAST conversation with MS, the CM asked that anyone finding themselves effected by this, or concerned about this, should call MS. So far (according to a supervisor), we were the only people mentioning problems....

Also, to update, it looks like the system roll over has changed from 3 AM (which is what it was for the TA's when they were testing) to 6AM. That means that, should DVC members not have access to the system, it would "only" be an hour head start, not 4.
