Online ADRs Thread (Updated FAQ 9/9/9)

Looks like we have almost the same ??? I can't wait until we get off this sticky & on the real threads  hopefully someone will see us here & answer...soon :yay:

:thumbsup2 thanks mom2rtk! Anymore tips? Plzzz keep them coming! :cheer2:

Have your phones charged and know the prompts on the phone system too. The online system is great, but one of the days I called in, it would not let me have my 90 + 10. I did everything the same way, but the system just "glitched" me that day.... I played with every computer in the house from 6 to 7 eastern, then realized I better get on the phone! I'm glad it was charged for once when I needed it! So plan for both possibilities!

Just wondering if anyone knows what the maximum group size is to make reservations through the online system. We have 3 families going ... total of 14 people. We'd be OK splitting into different tables but are trying to get reservations for the same general time.

Is it restaurant dependent?

At what size group is it necessary to call group dining? (anyone have that phone #)?

Thanks much!

I have noticed that the online system will allow me to book two restaurants within the same day/hour. I am always sure to cancel one of the reservations and NOT double book, but it does allow you to do this, it appears.

Anyone know if one of them eventually gets cancelled if you double book?

I have found that you can't make reservations more than 90 days out UNLESS you put your reservation number in. That is the only way you can make the reservation for 90+10 days. Is everyone else finding that it works this way also?

I have heard that it will cancel both ADR's.
I have booked 2 for the same day & time, but ALWAYS cancelled the one I didn't want right away.

Does the online system automaticly let you make the exta 10 days of adr's or do you need to put your reservation number in somewhere?

If your bookings are within 90 days, you do not need anything but your name, number, and email address. To hit your +10 (making ADRs on your 90 day mark), you need to input your reservation number with the phone number you booked under.

There are reports that it has happened - and in the situation of a double booking, BOTH ADRs may be canceled with no warning or notification to the ADR holder (a lengthy thread on this subject was locked earlier this week). It's not 100% clear to me whether it is a CM who does the canceling, or the system itself. At this point, my guess is a CM. :confused3 Maybe someone else has more definite information.

Does a CM go through all of the ADRs (scan them) to see what has been double booked within a certain # of hours?

I do not double book, but I do have a 4:05 pm adr at Whispering Canyon for my 2 children, then my dh and I will be going to Citricos at 7:00 pm and leaving my mom with the kids. Will these get cancelled because they are both dinner time?

I have a couple that are not double as far as the same time but they are within an hour of each other. I am trying to get CRT for the 11th of Oct and once I have that I will cancel the ones I don't want. Unless they get cancelled on me.

Even if you plan to call in your reservations, get up the hour early to check availability online prior to the phone lines opening. Our upcoming trip falls during the end of the free dining promotion. Table service restaurants had few openings. The online reservation system was very helpful in working out the changes to my dining plans. I was able to reserve all of the restaurants we wanted, although not on the dates and times I had planned. It took me about an hour to shuffle restaurants and times. I was able to take my time thinking through the changes and what would and would not work for us. It was much easier to place that call at opening time and request what I wanted, than to try to adjust everything with the cast member on the phone.

How do you edit a dining reservation?
I can retreive the ressie but the only function I see is to cancel it. :confused3

thank you!

No one has certain information, just anecdotal stories reported here on the boards.

The system WILL let you double book. I suppose it has to because no one in their right mind would cancel what they had until they had the new one locked down.

A few people reported just having their ADR's cancelled out of the blue with no warning when they were double booked. A couple of folks reporting to be CM's said they had approval to do that when they came across them.

This is NOT happening on a wide-spread basis. But I can't imagine anyone taking that sort of a chance when ADR's are so hard to come by.

To the person holding a couple of other ADR's while waiting for CRT, you should cancel one now: 1) for your own protection so they don't BOTH get cancelled and 2) just out of common courtesy for others seeking ADR's.

Most have a cancel button when you retrieve them. If it had a CC guarantee, you will have to call.

There is no way to edit your ADR. You have to make a new one, then cancel the old one.

It only allows bookings of up to 10 people. Grand Gatherings will set you up!
The number for GG is 407-939-7526. If you do not have your hotel ressies linked through them, ask them to do that, and they will issue you a GG#, which can be very helpful.
A couple of restaurants, I was told to call them directly. I gave up on them. Tutto Italia wouldn't let me book until 8/1 for a 9/2 ADR, and then when I tried to skip that process with a helpful CM there were NONE left for 13. Garden Grill (Epcot?) says right on their answering machine that large groups are difficult to seat, so I said forget it for them also.
The rest GG took care of no problem.

Hope that helps! :wizard:

How do you do that? I am about to make ADRs (window opens tomorrow morning) and I would much rather do it online, but I thought you couldn't with parties of 10 or more. Is there a trick to doing it?

Thanks--

Can someone please verify for me if I need to have my TA make my ADRs, or can I make them myself? I tried to enter my reservation number, and it says it is not found. My 90 days does not begin until Sunday the 12th. Any ideas?

I would prefer to make them myself, my TA is out on personal leave, and her replacement leaves alot to be desired.

My TA gave me the confirmation number and phone number and I was NOT able to make any online reservation and my 90 days started June 29. I had to call to make ADRs. I hope you have better luck then I did.

She contacted Disney to tell them this they didn't have an answer. I think this is a bug or Disney's way to book direct with Disney or on their own so Disney doesn't have to pay TAs. This is my 2 cents.

You can make them yourself. If your res# doesn't work on the online system (and many TA ressies do now...mine does & I've read others say theirs now work...) you can call. Is there a chance the phone # you're entering isn't the one your TA used? That could be why it's not working...people are also saying their res doesn't work until their 90 day exactly...
