ONE week to go - Magic Band Question

I've searched but can't find an answer....If only 1 person in our group of 3 has the Magic Band, will it make it harder to get reservations for rides or using Genie? Son is a technology geek and wants one by my husband and I are fine without and just using phones. Thanks if anyone can answer! We are staying a Pop Century...has anyone used the Sky Lift? They were building it when we were there in 2019 and we are so excited!
