We had a wonderful time using the DDP for the first time. It is very convenient and was easy to use. Portions are large and we left food on our plates. Desserts at TS restaurants much better than CS so I won't go into too much detail on those. I'll post reviews of the restaurants we visited.
Arrival Day
CS dinner Food Court at POR - We enjoyed the food and choices here. All the adults had the build your own pasta. Kids had nuggets and burgers. We shared our desserts with them each day. If we hadn't there would have been even more leftovers!
Day 1 Epcot
CS lunch Sunshine Seasons - Overall decent meal. We have eaten here on past trips. I had a large pork chop and mashed potatoes. Oldest got a Caesar salad with chicken. That was the smallest salad I have ever seen for the price they were charging. Quite disappointed. I shared some of my meal and Grandma had the half chicken so he ate some of that as well. youngest boy got the asian chicken with noodles. They were way to spicy for a child and he also shared with us.
TS dinner Les Chefs de France - Superb! Adults did the prix fixe menu. Lobster bisque was outstanding. Beef tenderloin with noodles was great. The creme brulee was amazing. I can't say enough good things about the restaurant. We also had a wonderful server. This trip was to celebrate youngests 8th birthday and several servers sang happy birthday in French to him! He was so happy.
Day 2 MK
CS lunch Columbia Harbour House - This was our first visit to the restaurant and it was not the last! We loved the food. Can't go wrong with fried shrimp and fries. Good kids meal choices too. Chicken salad and chicken nuggets this go round.
TS Tony's Town Square - Despite all the bad reviews we decided to try this. I can now concur that we won't be going back. Overall not a very good meal. Two of us had the steak and 1 the shrimp and pasta. Least fave of all the desserts. Horrible tiramisu. This was the night we all went back to the room and had intestinal difficulties. Could be coincidence but probably not.
Day 3 MK
CS lunch Cosmic Rays - Again we have been here so no surprises. I had the chicken Caesar salad, Grandma the ribs with mashed potatoes and green beans, and 14 yo a bacon cheeseburger with fries. Kids had nuggets and burger.
TS dinner Liberty Tree Tavern - We all loved this place! The food was great and plentiful. It was like having Thanksgiving in October. We plan to return here on our next trip (only TS in MK we want to do again).
Day 4 Epcot
TS lunch Via Napoli - OMG, that is all I have to say. So good. We had margherita and carciofi pizza. Kids both had spaghetti and meatballs. Everyone loved their meal. Finally, a real tiramisu. Oldest and I both had the zeppole and it was so decadent. Youngest got an extra birthday treat and a song in Italian. Happiness ensued.
TS dinner Rose & Crown - Made a res for 7:45, checked in early and requested the patio. Seated on lower level of patio about 8:20. Dinner was less than stellar but the view of Illuminations made up for it. I will say the the kids got the potato and leek soup and I could eat a whole giant bowl alone for a meal. It was really good. I had bangers and mash. Sausuages were awful I thought. Grandma had the seafood stew and it was so spicy she could barely get it down. 14 yo had surf and turf and loved it. The sticky toffee pudding was really good though.
Day 5 MK
CS lunch Columbia Harbour House - See day 2! Only difference was I had a salad and kids both had mac and cheese.
TS dinner Boatwrights at POR - My favorite dessert of the whole trip. Bread pudding with rum raisin ice cream is heaven. The prime rib was really good as well. Oldest had beef medallions with mac and cheese. Kids had nuggets. Got birthday balloons and a song in English this time!
Day 6 AK
CS lunch Pizzafari - Been here before as well. It's a fave. Pizza and salad for everyone except me. I always get the Italian sandwich. I was able to sub salad for chips. Youngest got a giant cupcake from a very nice CM who stopped to wish him a happy birthday.
TS dinner Tusker House - It's a buffet. It was decent, the kids tried some new things like plantains and different spices. Desserts were underwhelming. We won't go back. Want to try Yak and Yeti next time.
Departure Day
CS lunch Food Court at POR - Same as before with the exception of Grandma getting the fish basket. She loved it.
Our snacks were mostly sundaes, Mickey bars or scoops of ice cream. We of course had the Dole Whip float at MK. Love those.
Overall we ate very well. It was a lot of food but we all tried new things, shared with the kids who didn't have as many choices and were happy with most every experience. We will definitely do the dining plan again whether it's free or not (please be free!!).
Hope this helps others planning upcoming trips.
