We are going on a Disney cruise with a large group for a wedding in Dec. The bride & groom have chartered a bus from the port to the airport. Here's our dilemma, We are going to WDW for a few days after the cruise and aren't sure the best way to get there from the port.

If we ride the charter bus back to the airport, can we then hop on DME and go to our resort?

Can we take the DCL bus only one way? If so, how much does that cost and do I have to book it ahead of time or at the port?

Or would we be better off to rent a towncar one way from the port directly to WDW? Will they even do port to WDW only?

If we take a towncar from the port to WDW, can we then turn around and use DME to return to the airport at the end of our trip?

So many decisions--I'm so confused!! :confused3

We took the DCL transport from the port back to the airport. (Thanks to this board we rented a car and drove to the area the night before and stayed over and took the car rental vsn to the terminal.) There was availability to reserve the bus for a one way return trip on board the ship. I think that there was a deadline of a day or two before we returned. I don't know if you can take DME one way or not. Why not call and ask?
have a g :cool1: reat time!

Hmm--since there are five of us I wonder if I could get a towncar for cheaper? I'll have to do some more investigation.

Anyone every taken a one way towncar from port to WDW resort? What was the cost?

We rented a car to the port and dropped it off at the car rental agency rather than pay to park a car we would not be using.
THen just like clock work we disembarked and the rental car shuttle van was waiting for us to take us back to rent another car to return to WDW.
We use Budget and they were very effiecent. the cost for the one day rental was $26.oo

I never considered renting a car for the trip--another option I guess. Are there shuttles that could take you from the port to the car rental agencies? Do you have to call them or are they waiting at the port to take people as needed?

Thanks for all your input!

We are renting a car to get to & from the airport. We fly in on a Friday and want the car that night and then we will drive it to the port and return it at a location nearby. We will get the car after the cruise on Saturday and then have it Saturday & Sunday and return it to the airport. We'll be paying just a little more than we would for the Disney transfer for the 2 of us, but it gives us the flexibilty to go where we want before & after the cruise.

We are renting from Hertz. They have a location near port canaveral and once we drop off the car, they will take us to the port. It costs a little more to pick-up and return from different locations, but this works best for us. It might be something worth looking into, especially since you have 5 people.
