It's one big trip, we are just splitting it up between two hotels. On the Disney summary page of our vacation for the MagicBands, there are two different orders. One for the first hotel stay, one for the second, both can be customized and all that. Is there something I can do just to make one big order and not need to swap out MagicBands half way through our stay?

You don't need to swap them out. Both sets will work at both hotels. Order different colors if you want, or refuse the second set and just use one. They will both work.

Customize the first set, decline the second if you don't want both. Magic bands are tied to your MDE account, not your hotel, so the first set will work for both with no additional work needed.

I think you can say you don't want magic bands for the second "trip" and activate the first band for the second room. You can activate and deactivate old bands on MDE. You can also request no bands, if you have some already and don't want them to send new ones. All of that can be done on MDE

How do I decline? The site just has the "Edit Address" button to get me started on ordering them. The first set is customized and ready for shipping in a month, I haven't done anything with the second.

So to the being tied to our account: That means they work regardless of what we have booked? If I had 20 hotels, all under the same MDE profile, it would just pick up whatever?

Yes. Any magic band you have will work for any future trips also.

Like many people, I have numerous magic bands. I pick 5 or 6 from my collection that I want to take on my trip. They will all work.

I do this too!! It's so much fun coordinating my MagicBand with what I'm wearing and/ or where we're going that day. :)

On the customize page there should be a decline button if you don't want them.

How long do MagicBand batteries last?

There are 2 RFID chips in each band. one is powered by a battery, the other is powered by touching the band to a Mickey Head at a tapstyle or POS terminal. The functions that use the battery-powered RFID chip are limited to those that make use of the long-range RF signal - the ride videos on a few rides and Disney's ability to track you in the parks (this function can be used to locate a missing child, for instance). Battery life was anticipated to be about 3 years, but YMMV. If/when the battery dies, the band is still usable for all the important stuff - opening room doors, tickets, FP+, charging to your room, PhotoPass, etc.. So, for all practical purposes, the bands last forever unless damaged.

We are currently on a two hotel, one trip stay and got bands at both resorts. I'm glad we got two sets each! They are interchangeable AND when my oldest lost his on Space Mountain, we had a spare he could easily use without wasting time getting a new one.

I'm doing a 9 night package followed by a 1 night room only at the same resort. I'm from Canada so pick up my bands when I check in. Will I be able to receive both bands when I check in on my first night or will I not get my second band until I check in for my last night?

Since the two reservations are 9 nights apart, it's unlikely that the second band will be at the resort when you check in for the first reservation. You can ask. It could be there, but most likely it won't be available to you until check-in day for the second reservation. Maybe a day a two before?
