One time use points...

What happens if I purchase one time use points for a reservation and then later have to cancel that reservation?

I don't know if you get to keep the points in your account or not, though.

I had to buy 4 for my upcoming trip.

Yeah I figured you wouldn't get a refund. I would hope that you could use them by the end of the use year.

oh and I found this out the hard way....

If you have a waitlisted stay, you can't use those points to complete your waitlist. If you called to book and all your days were available, no problem. So if you know that part of your days are going to be waitlisted, you may need to go ahead and purchase your points for your available nights....

but part of me is thinking you can't do that. That you can only buy those points at the "need to buy time." Does that make sense????

You are correct that they will not "purchase" the one time points to fill a wait list. However, if you bought them and then had to cancel, I believe the one time use points would then be available to fill the wait list.

But, in order to buy them, you have to be making a reservation with them immediately.
