i have two contracts direct buys from DVC. One for 100 points and a second for 50. Can I get up to 24 points per contract for a total of 48 or is it per member meaning max 24 points? I was looking to book to studio rooms for my family and wanted to know my options prior to looking to rent points if I can purchase an additional 48 from DVC. Thanks for any insight anyone can provide.

It's 24 points per membership. If you have different use years, or if they're titled differently, then you have two memberships and can purchase 48 total. But if they're the same use year and titled the same, then you can only purchase 24.

And keep in mind that one-time-use points can only be used at 7 months.

Thanks for the info. Kind of thought that maybe the case.

What if I buy resale at a different home resort but same use year. Would I have access to a second set of one time use points? Or better can I transfer the points to myself and book one of the two different home resorts at 11 months with all the points I have or am I going to be limited to those non home resorts points to be used at 7 months?

Nope. If they are the same use year titled the same, a second and subsequent resorts will be joined under the same membership. Honestly, if you feel you may need more than 24 one-time-use points frequently, you should probably consider adding on a 25 or 50 point contract. Buying one on the resale market will be about half the price as buying one-time-use points over the long term.

I am looking for resale just trying to fill the need now. We are looking at another resort to have a second home was just trying to understand options now and what we will have once we purchase another contract. Thanks so very much for your time.

You can only transfer points between different memberships. If you buy a contract at a different resort but the same UY, the new contract will be added on to your current membership, provided that the new contract is titled the same as your existing contract. You do not need to transfer points in this case because you can pool them to make a reservation, in this case at 7 months out because the points are from different resorts.

If you did have contracts under different memberships (because they were different UYs or were titled differently) you could transfer points from one of your memberships to the other. Transferred points retain their home resort and UY so again, the points could be pooled to make a reservation 7 months out.

In both cases above you can book a home resort 11 months out using home resort points and at 7 months out you can add on additional nights using non-home points, subject to availability.

If you need more than 24 points then a good option would be to look for a larger transfer from another member. If you transfer more than you immediately need then you will have a cushion for the future too.
