Has anyone had ta reservation cancelled that had one time use points? Do you just lose them? We bought 20 one time use to finish our reservation and now if it gets cancelled what happens to them? I know they said they are not refundable- but just wondered with all this going on if they are. I just wondered if anyone has actually experienced this now, with this going on. I know the rule- I know I SHOULD lose them, but wanted to see if there’s any new policy with this situation like how they are putting borrowed points back.

Technically, under normal rules, the OTUPs will remain in your account until the end of the UY they were purchased. You can use them until then, though you have to call MS to do so.

I'm in a similar situation I have a reservation for beginning of May for which I bought 7 OTUP. Dec UY.

I have read people were refunded for them, even though the website says they will be returned to your account and expire at end of your UY.

I have canceled 2 separate reservations both with OTU points and they told me they go back into my current use year. They did not offer another option. I combined the canceled reservation points into a new July reservation to purposefully use those OTU points. If I had pressed the issue I don’t know what would have resulted, I may find out if July is canceled. In both situations I canceled before they did but it was during the closure period and they unborrowed points no problem but definitely just sent OTU points back to current use year. I have read that some were refunded but I’m still holding out a little hope for a trip this summer so I didn’t push it. Good luck, it would be awesome to get the money back!

I contact via email and asked if my OTU points would be refunded if my May reservation was cancelled and was told I would need to call MS. I have a June UY. It wasn’t a flat out no.

I will wait until my reservation is cancelled then call. I have seen that others have been refunded so feel confident that we will get the money back.

While I can see why they are letting banked points expire, it seems to me they SHOULD refund OTU points if they are cancelling the reservation. It's not like the refund will put those points back in the system. Unless I'm misunderstanding where OTU points come from.

Our OTU points were refunded, but we were scheduled to go March 21st, then rescheduled to April and both were cancelled. They were very nice about it at member services.

If they are considering OTUP points as developer points, they will expire at the end of the UY that you bought them.

The notice put out 2 days ago on the member site, and you need to read both the notice and the further information link found at the end of the notice, provides that one time use points for canceled reservations will go back into your current use year and you can either use them for another reservation in that use year or have your payment for them refunded.

I had a trip starting May 9. All my FP and ADRs were canceled overnight on Thursday, but the room was still showing. I knew that DVC would eventually get around to canceling the room, but since this trip was on transferred points, I was going to need to call anyway to bank them (Dec UY). The were also 7 OTUP involved. I called yesterday afternoon (3:45 PM Pacific). Spent 50 minutes on hold (estimated wait time 40min) before getting great CM. No problem canceling the reservation, but she wasn't able to bank the points herself, and would have to get another group involved. She also told me that she saw the were OTUP involved and she would see what she could do about getting a refund on those. She warned me that she might not be able to get it done, and that I might have to call back in a week when DVC would've canceled my reservation anyway. She put me on hold while she set off to make all that happen

20 mins later she returned to key me know that she was still waiting to talk to the team that could make this all happen. She just wanted me to know that she was still there. Back on hold I go.

45 min later she returns.

She was able to get my transferred points banked.

The OTUP points, however, could not be refunded at that time, as technically, the reservation was not yet in the window where DVC would cancel the reservation. However, assuming that DVC does not reopen in the next week, if I call back after May 2 (that would be within a week of the reservation), they should then be able to refund my OTUPs. Her words were "I'm not allowed to use the word 'guarantee', but you get my drift".

Total length of call: 2 hours, 24 seconds.

And I get to call back in a week. :thumbsup2

Had 14 OTUP for our Hawaii June trip that I was able to get a refund yesterday. Took over a hour on chat but had a reservation to cancel and borrowed points to put back plus 11 transfer points to bank.

We had OTU points for our trip next month to Aulani. It took about 20 minutes on hold as they had to authorize the refund. We also had borrowed points on the reservation as well but it was squared away.
