My two friends and I will be at PC in September (yeah for free dining :)!!). We will not be bringing a laptop with us. One of my friends would like to make some banking transactions/do some on-line bill pay via the internet one day. Is there any place at PC (or even in the theme parks) where she could do this for a small fee? I know about the internet cafe at Disney Quest, but we do not have plans to be there the day that she needs to do this. Thanks :)

no. you should be able to go to a business center at a convention resort like the contemporary though.

There are no PC's publicly available at Pop Century or in the parks to my knowledge.

The convention resorts usually have a business center where you can pay to use a PC with internet access.. it IS pricey however.. I think it's around 10$ for 15 minutes.

Convention Resorts include:

Coronado Springs
Contemporary
Yacht & Beach Club
Grand Floridian
Boardwalk

So.. in theory.. your friend could take the monorail over from MK or stop at the Contemporary or GF on the way in.. whichever.. and do whatever needed doing.

Hope this helps.

Thanks everyone for your responses :). I'll pass the info on to my friend and she what she wants to do. She said that her aunt could probably do this for her, but she isn't real familiar with on-line bill pay. Maybe my friend can call her and talk her through it.

doesn't the billpay allow you to schedule these things anyway?

It does, but she is a VERY nice sister and does banking for her brother. She needs to make transfers on the day he gets paid along with paying a few bills.

If it's really that expensive, she's better off bringing her laptop and paying the 10 bucks for 24 hours of internet at Pop. At least she'd get some more time out of it -- and not have to go to another hotel to do go online.

It really bothers me that Disney doesn't offer free Wi-Fi, like almost every hotel does these days.

of course, it's a different topic altogether, but the real question is just how many hotels do offer internet for free. i've heard it argued that more upscale hotels do actually charge for the internet.

just for the heck of it, i looked up the Waldorf=Astoria here in NYC. $9.95/day.

disney's internet is from an outside vendor, so i don't know how much of the cut they're getting, but i suspect it's not much if any. they could easily just hike up the price by $10 to hide it, but then can't you complain that everyone is paying for the internet including those that aren't using it?

i think the fact that they allow parking for free is a big deal personally.

here's a mildly interesting article that probably doesn't apply as much to disney in regards to hotels charging or not charging: http://www.slate.com/id/2135226

and another that compares internet rates against 44 chains: http://www.travelpost.com/hotel-internet-access.aspx

you'll find that the ones that offer internet free tend to be the more economic choices for hotels. higher end hotels tend to charge for internet access. why? because they can.

I travel quite a bit and as you just said the upscale hotels charge for the internet. I would pay the $10 and not lug the laptop to WDW if that is all you are going to use it for.

$10 at Disney is nothing in the grand scheme of things.

I agree, they do it because they can. And I agree that 10 bucks isn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things. I guess it just bothers me that I can get it at a cheap Days Inn, but not at a hotel where I'm paying $$$.

Regardless, I do swallow this annoyance and bring my laptop when I go to Disney. Not that I spend much time on it while I'm there -- I just like to have it to keep track of my finances and stuff.

What are you dates?? We will be at PC in Sept. also our dates is 7th - 17th and we will have our laptop with us.

They used to have internet phone by the payphones, so unless they have removed them you could use that. I used one at AKL one year and it was a pay by the minute so if she has to do too much it might be cheaper to go to a business center. I'll check to make sure they still have them when I go in a couple of weeks.
