As it stands my flight will arrive in orlando at 12:20 am. I'm taking ME to POR. I figuared out that i will arrive at POR around one thity am. I called POR and informed them of the early arrival. They told me that my room may be ready but really how offten dose that happen. If they room isn't ready they told me that i could camp out in the lobby and they would do every thing they could to make me comfortable. I was wondering if any one has any other ideals. Since i have 85 more days to go for my trip in september i can't really cancelle the air and wait for a refund witch takes fourteen days. I've checked the other airlines and the same flight is more money than i paid or they are sold out. At least at POR they have free wifi and old mickey mouse cartoons. I've also heard that thier chouch is verry comfortable While the early arrival wasn't my ideal i still plan to make the best of it. I have a breakfast with goofy at 7;55 am. I also plan to be at DHS before opening mabey having any early arrival isn't so bad..

Well I think its awesome that they will try to give you a room that early without making you pay for a night!!! I am sure they will do everything possible to get you that room. But if not, give them your luggage to hold and take a nap on that big old comfy couch :thumbsup2

Wow, I was always told that if you check in before 6am you have to pay for the previous night in order to get a room.

I would probably play it safe and try to extend my trip to include and extra night at the beginning to make sure we had a room when we arrived.

You might want to call back and talk to a different CM. The computers don't switch over until 5 or 6 am. I don't see how thay could possibly check you in and give you a room without charging you for that night's stay (which they should).

There's no way I would be trying to sleep on a couch in the lobby and then be at a character breakfast and park the next day. I would either stay at the airport hotel for 1 night or book the extra night at POR to have a guaranteed room. I'm really not thinking they're going to give you a room anyway, since they would essentially be giving you a free night.

I would like to do that but i'm out of money right now. So i will more than likely camp out in the lobby. I might have some extra funds but i have to waite and see.

I get what your saying, but what happens if you can't get into your room till 3 or 4 pm, or later? I know they'll probably do their best to get you in a room as early as possible (althought I still doubt they'll let you have a room before 6pm without charging you), but we've checked in around 8am and our room wasn't ready till almost 5pm! Remember rooms are only said to be ready STARTING at 3pm, doesn't mean you'll absolutely be in your room at 3pm. That would make for an awfully long day waiting for a room.

I worked at a Disney resort and often did graveyard.

There were several occasions when guests would arrive in the middle of the night. We often couldn't get them rooms until after 12, if not 3. If they're booked up, you have to wait until current guests leave and housekeeping has the chance to clean the room. If we had extra rooms available, sometimes we'd offer a room at 50% off. But never did we ever allow check-in before 6, which as PP noted, is when the computers download the current day's guests.

And of course, don't expect and room requests to be fulfilled. You'll get the first available room, wherever that may be. If I were you, I'd be ready to pay the 50% and scrape up some funds to make it work. The room is technically not "yours" until 3PM.

I'm realy going to try and get another night but i'm not counting on it. So i'll just sleep on the plane and sack out on the chouch. I may call POR and see if i could get a discount. Too bad i couldn't get the airline to pay for another night

Here is the most important thing you need to know.....when you call the published number for a resort you are NOT talking to anyone at the resort, all the calls go to a call center. So when you thought you were talking to someone working at your resort you were not. Unfortunatly you got bad advice, the hotel will not give you a room before the computers turn over, they can't even realy begin your check in process(tickets, keys, dinning package if reserved) until that magic time(6am I think). If you want a room before 6am you will need to reserve one starting the next day.

Yes, this is important. The person answering your call will say "Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Resort," but they're not physically located at the resort, and they're not familiar with the front desk's check-in procedures. Unfortunately, the call center provides an awful lot of misinformation.

OP, don't call the published POR number if you're looking for a discounted reservation. You want to call the reservation line, 1-407-WDISNEY.

While this is disapoining i should have known better. I'm working on finding some extra funds. If this comes through then i will get another night. I'll book for the twenith even thought i will not be comming in until the 21 first.

Why not get a cheap room near the airport after your flight lands, get a few hours sleep, then head over to Disney?

I'm not sure if i could do that and still take ME to POR and besides how cheap are we talking about?

You can still take ME. Just give them the number of a flight that comes in the next morning about the same time you anticipate getting back to the airport from your motel.

If you go on Hotwire, you can probably get a hotel near the airport with free shuttle service for $50 or less.

Personally, i would probably cancel the character breakfast and use the money to get a room and sleep in a bit on the first day, then take ME to WDW around 8-9 AM.

The LaQuinta Inn airport west seems to have a room for $52/night on Sept 21st.

I bet if you called them (and others with an airport shuttle) after landing, you could negotiate a great rate ($25-30 or so for the night) if they have an open room. Just ask if they have availability, and if they do ask if they would be willing to take $30 for the night. They may say no, but then you could reply that it is unlikely another person will be clamoring at their doorstep at 2AM to fill the room, and otherwise it would simply be breakage (they would make no money on it).

This is especially effective if you planned on sleeping in the POR lobby anyway, since you'd have nothing to loose (nor would they).

ETA: You could also go on Priceline a day or so before your flight, put in $25 for the night at a 2+ star hotel with an airport shuttle and see if there are any takers. Someone that close is bound to accept the offer, since they will have a good idea of their inventory.

First of all I have allready bought the dexlue dining plan. Secound i bit the bulliet and got another night at POR. I called 1407 w disney and got 20% off the room. It would be okay with me if the airlines changed the flight to leave earlyer in the day on september 20th.

So glad you were able to grab an extra night - now you may have extra TS credits w/ your deluxe dinning to 'spend' :thumbsup2 (unless you grabbed a room only for that 1 night rather than adding a night to your package.)
Since you're arriving so late, you might want to make sure and do online check-in, so that hopefully you already have your room assigned when you get there and be good do go early your first 'real' day.
And don't forget to grab your bags on your way to DME - there shouldn't be much in the way of crowds, so the DME part should go relatively quickly.

I'm glad that it all worked out by adding an extra night to the beginning of your reservation. You would definitely not want to arrive and not have a room available for you. As suggested, I would cancel the first ADR and/or reschedule it.

To save a tons of $, I would seriously consider dropping the DxDP and paying OP for your meals and/or getting the regular dining plan. It would save you money unless you know you will be eating that much food during your visit. We did the regular dining plan once and ended up wasting money on it, however it was just me and my wife and ended up sharing most of our meals due to the large portions. Plus I usually see people during the last day at the resort buying tons of snacks to use all of the remaining credits on their plan. It happens so often that me and my DW play a game to spot guests with tons of snacks to figure out who's checking out soon. Just a suggestion.

Keep in mind that if you get a FD offer or if one becomes available, I'd definitely jump on it by keeping an eye on the Disney Discount Codes/Rates section.
