One thing you wish you'd known

One thing I wish I'd have known was that if you stay active and move around during the cruise, the extra calories will not cause weight gain!

Glad we keep moving!!!!!

how true Rae, I actually usually LOSE weight when I cruise,, I told DH it is my new diet,,, now if I could go more than once a year it would help.............

Wish I'd taken a good long look at myself in the mirror wearing my swimsuit before I packed it. I might have bought a different one. Have just joined Weight Watchers for the first time in preparation for that October cruise. Trying to stay positive!;)

The only spa treatment my wife felt worthwhile was the device you sit or lay in while listening to headphones. She had full body massage and I had back and leg massage, no facial. We were both hounded about their products we couldn't live without.
I to port early and was close to front of line to board ship. I made dinner reservations then went to take tour of spa and make appts. There was a crazy line.

My recommendation would be, and I am the EXPERT (not) because I have been on only 1 cruise;)

Are you ready........

1. If you feel your life will not be complete unless you get spa'ad by Disney, do something simple like spa sampler. You be the judge.

Life is too short to have any regrets about what you could've or should've done. Take everything on these boards as just cruiser opinions. And you know about opinions............
Make the experiences your own, not trying to relive someone elses dream cruise.

Relax and enjoy the moment.

The main reason I opt to splurge and get my pictures developed by Shutters! At least if one of mine don't come out, maybe I can get a similiar one of theirs or try for the same shoot (often impossible, I know!)

Oh how true this is! My DH and I celebrated our anniversary with our first 7-night cruise. I know we took at least 8 rolls of film. Imagine my surprise when the Walmart photo center worker informed me that all of the rolls were blank.

Thank heavens we have our one purchased photo of the formal night to remind us of what a wonderful time we had.

P.S. (when we emailed one of our dinner mates and told him our story, he mailed us the only picture that he had taken of us. Yeah!!)

I can just imagine how sick you felt. We were at Devil's Tower in Wyoming once and during our trip saw the wild horses, buffalo, etc.....both rolls of film were lost. But at least we kept our sense of humor!

I learned this one the second time around...use Priceline to get a cheap hotel at the airport. We fly in the night before and the 45 minute drive to PC was something we didn't want to do at night. For $30 we got a really good room for the night.

From my Hubby: if you want to scuba dive, do the research and choose a dive tour on your own. His first ocean dive was the Disney excursion at St. Martin, and he was very disappointed. He knows better now.

We bought the wine package, and we won't do that again. The pressure! We had to finish a bottle of wine every night! In our 30's this would not have been a problem, but now...

We brought our own snorkeling equipment, but only one bag for three sets. DH hurt his back carrying it. We'll take more bags next time.

I researched the DIS boards like crazy before we went. So it was a pretty perfect trip (except for Dh's back). So much so, we've booked the 10 day for Christmas 2004. I'm so excited, I don't know how I'm going to make it through the next 18 months. Diana

Oh, how about this bad camera story. My dd was born. We got a few pictures (maybe 5) Dh followed her to the nursery to get pics of her first bath, etc. The battery died (not normal AA's some weird camera battery) So he missed all of that!! :( FIL loaned us his camera, but it wasn't automatic and dh decided to play with all the settings. At one point you'd hit the button and hear the shutter open, and hear it close about 4 seconds later. Needless to say 98% of dd's newborn pictures are blurry and out steaked from camera movement!

So that's always my advice to pregnant moms....Get a new camera battery before you go into labor! :)

Wow- You all talked about the spa, but no one mentioned the surial bath!...Definitely worth the money...My wife and I still talk about that!

Hello everybody -
I have pondered many times what I had to offer this thread and thought of what could I say that maybe could help - this will not help all the cruisers, but it would help the Western cruisers - since there are no strings attached in any manner, decided getting an information package that contains Orlando, brevard County and Key West info - the only expense is postage for it - I do the rest - this package contains a great deal of help so that you aren't at "lost" when you come to any of these towns - almost but not quite as good as having Triple A - you send me a big manilla envelope with about $3.75 postage attached and self address - your envelope is mailed back to you within a day - this way you have something in your hands to give you ideas of what you may want to see or do - I also will tell you those to stay away from and who have proven themselves honest with the cruisers - since I am a Key West conch and since I also live here in Brevard County, I stay up on a lot of things that have helped many in the past - I have been offered to be paid by these that I recommend, but I have refused asking that the savings be past down to you.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to write me at snelsonbrown@aol.com
Always
Shirley

Shirley - thank you again for your wonderful offer! Your information packet was wonderful and very much appreciated!

Your efforts to make our stop in your town (Key West) are neverending!

Thank you very much!

Rae

(And we still talk about the great baskets and flowers you have created for our cruise!)

And Shirley, if you ever find out where our Fidelio is at - please let us know!!!!!!

Good morning Rae! By the way, didn't you mean "cruise"(S)?...

HI BD - A gracious good morning to you! How are things on your side of the world? cruises.....and cruises.....and cruises....
Only one thing better and that's horses...horses..horses!

One thing I wish I'd known before I cruised was BD and verandahman, so we could have joined forces!!!!!

WE did a 4 day cruise last Nov. Not long enough. We are booked for Nov. 2004.
1- DO NOT DO the Alpha Capsule for a spa treatment if you are the least bit claustophobic. I had to get out less than 1/2 way through because I could not handle it and I do not consider myself a huge claustrophobic.

2-Definately make up some envelopes at home for all the tips that you have to leave. That way you already have the cash set aside and you do not have to charge the tips which can get costly depending on how many people are going.

3-If you are a lady I highly recommend the Ladies Night which I believe is on the 1st night of the cruise. You get a massage, mini facial, and the rainforest. But the best part is the champagne and chocolates.

4- Of course Relax and Enjoy yourselves.
