One thing you should absolutly do before going to Disney...

When I went to Disney awhile ago, I was absolutly amazed with the food. It was absolutly delicious. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Desserts, you name it! When I came back I found out that I gained 6 lbs in 1 week! I decited that the next time I went to Disney I would loose 5 lbs prior to going to while I was there I could indulge in anything I wanted and not worry about the gain. So when I returned to Disney I did exactily what I said I would and everything worked out perfectly. Therefore, if your a health concious individual who might be afraid of putting on a few lbs on your trip, then safe yourself the postdisney gain by doing something pre-disney! Just a little helpful tip!
 
Another thing my family does is split meals. This is wonderful because you save money and don't feel stuffed while your walking around the parks.
 
I ate until I about popped and din't gain any weight, but we are camando tourers so alot of walking.

We are the same...commando people in the park!
 

I LOVE eating at WDW, so I try and drop 2-3 pounds before we go,so I feel I can eat whatever I want while there. I work out daily at home, so all the miles I walk while at WDW doesn't ever seem to make a difference.
 
I didn't gain, but then we did split many meals, and we took dessert back with us when we could to have a snack or as a pre-breakfast.
 
Another thing we desk jockeys should do is start a walking program at home a couple of months before the trip. That's a lot of walking everyday if you're not used to it, and who wants to be beat tired halfway through vacation? Plus, getting in the habit for the trip can mean you continue it afterwards! :thumbsup2
 
That is such a great idea! Yes, the exercise you get in Disney is great! A walking plan is such a good idea. How many miles do you think a day at one of the parks in Disney would be? (Miles wise)?
 
Somewhere on the boards there was a post about an English couple - the husband wore a pedometer and I think they covered 58 miles during the time they were there - can't remember if it was a week or ten days.

Meals are too huge for us, hate feeling stuffed or throwing away food. First thing to do before, alot of walking at home, to break in them leg and back muscles before getting into the marathon of Disney parks. Its alot of walking, in the heat, and most people aren't used to that, plus doing that kind of walking in a shoe that your foot likes for the whole day.
 
58 miles...that is awesome! Bring on those Sundaes!! :woohoo: That leaves me to another question though. What shoes are good to wear in the parks? I am a huge fan of flip flops. I wear them everywhere. Last summer I went to Hershey Park in Penn. Granted its not nearly as big as Disney, my feet had no problems at all.
 
I'm always worried we're going to gain too. But like others here, we tend to go "commando." Whenever we weigh in at home after a vacation we find that we haven't gained anything!! :yay: We must walk it all off.
 
It's not whilst on vacation that I put on weight it's when I get home. :rolleyes1 Last year we brought home lots of peanut butter cups, Oreos & the fish shaped crackers (can't remember the names lol)...... I was so 'down' about coming home I ate and ate!
 
That's the good thing about flying from the UK - i can spend a few hours walking around the plane. Not only is it good exercise, prevents DVT blah blah blah but it confuses the hell out of the cabin crew :rotfl2:
