Take a look at this picture, it's awesome!! This picture was taken in Yuma, AZ on 9-11-2002. The flag was located at Fry's shopping center on the corner of 24th and 4th Avenue.
Seller's cranes were holding it up and people were stopping all day taking pictures.

It is a good time to make a post like that. We do have a lot to be Thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

And

God Bless America

While it's a nice photo, I have to say that it made me very uncomfortable. One of the precepts of our country is that we are a nation that prizes individual freedoms and embraces freedom of religion. All religions. As a Jew, I respect your holidays. My family joins in helping our friends celebrate their holidays. We wrap gifts in appropriate paper, and remember to acknowledge even those days which are not as much a part of the national conscience. Having said that, I will also say that there is a very disquieting tendency for the reverse to NOT hold true. Not out of disrespect, but because they just don't think about it....they don't have to because there are few times where their practices lay outside of the mainstream of our national lives. And it is somewhat alienating. My children, when they were younger, once went into a shop at WDW when we were there near Christmas and asked if they even had any Chanukah merchandise. It was one of those years when Chanukah happened just prior to Christmas, and it WAS Chanukah while we were there. There was very little acknowledgement (a small selection of merchandise at Disney Village) of any other celebration.

Perhaps I'll get "flamed" over this, but to see a national symbol depicting a cross is not the "message" of the Thanksgiving season.

Just my own opinion.

I for one, felt chills over that photo.
My father fought in WW2 and I am proud of that flag and my Christian beliefs. I am also glad to live in a country that allows us to choose what religion we want to practice, and allows us to not choose one at all!

Thanks for posting a wonderful photo!

Well-Spoken, Chrisney :D :D :D :D . The United States of America is NOT a Christian union...........

"I believe in an America where religious intolerance will someday end -- where all men and all churches are treated as equals -- where every man has the same right to attend or not attend the church of his choice -- where there is no Catholic vote, no anti-Catholic vote, no bloc voting of any kind -- and where Catholics, Protestants and Jews, at both the lay and pastoral level, will refrain from those attitudes of disdain and division which have so often marred their works in the past, and promote instead the American ideal of brotherhood."

John F. Kennedy

Thats a great picture! Thanks for sharing it, we do have a lot to be thankful for, and this is a great time to reflect on those things!

The USA gives a freedom to choose religion. There is a seperation between church and state( American History 101).

I have releatives that have lost their lives in WW1, WW2 and in Vietnam. I am very proud of my flag and what it represents.
I have also lost 3 close friends at the World Trade center. Seeing this flag is something that makes me proud to be a American. And proud to be able to express my feelings.

I did not say anything about being christian or being a Jew. I didn't say anything about the merchindice that Disney has for it's holidays.

I just thought this Photo was very moving to me. And i don't think i stand alone wheather no matter what religion you choose.

AGAIN GOD BLESS AMERICA

Happy Thanksgiving !!!

I totally agree with you Buzz. I dont know why those comments were made when neither you or I said anything about religion or Thanksgiving. I hope you dont let those comments bother you. Just focus on the picture posted. Have a good one. :)

The FLAG is indeed beautiful, but your text above speaks to another agenda. Christ died on the Cross, and its symbol is powerful for many. However, there are millions of Americans who worship GOD who are NOT Christian.

Here's another mixed metaphor......the "Shield of David" with the Red, White, and Blue:( ....

Images like this pin and your posted flag COMPLETELY miss the message of our founding fathers. There is NO religious test for LOVE OF COUNTRY. :D

i think both of these are beautiful images that are able to incorporate people's love of America with their devotion to their religion. you wouldn't want to limit their right to express these feelings, would you, EROS?

Very nice, Christine. You so often find these unique pictures. Thanks for sharing.

Spago....thank you.....that is what he is trying to imply....glad i am not the only one feeling this way.....

GOD BLESS AMERICA

Happy Thanksgiving
