Why is the Lost Continent area under construction? What did I miss?

Ya, this is the wall where the new station is going to go for the Hogwarts Express train that will join the two Harry Potter areas in IOA and USF. It is in IOA right inside the Lost Continent beside the Wizarding World.

This hasn't closed off Sinbad and the Mystic Fountain area, right? It's closer to the current entrance of the Harry Potter area?

It appears to be closer to Poseidon's Fury.

Sindbad and Mystic Fountain are still active.

edit: It's the back of Sindbad, lol. I should know this...

Other side.

It's by the left-most entrance to the Sinbad theater (The building the wall ends at). The section the picture shows is running from about the end of the vendor stalls immediately after the WWOHP entrance, up and around the walkway up to Sinbad. Behind the wall is simply some trees/bushes and then the Dueling Dragons coaster area.

Someone posted a link awhile ago that showed this area was getting some regrading done for drainage purposes in prep for what we believe is going to be the IOA end of the Hogwarts Express.

Has anyone talked about how/if Universal will change it's admission policies or costs IF the train station actually connects from US to HP in IOA? Or are they just expanding HP over that far (i.e. not actually part of US) and the train will fall under the admission price for IOA? That brings me to another thought. IF the train station really connects, then do you think there's a future possibility of only having only one admission price that would cover both parks? Do you think they would ever do away with the "One Park" ticket completely?

I think they will probably just require you to have a two park ticket if you want to ride the train to the other park. Or, there could be a car in the train just for those who want to do the return trip and only have a one park ticket. It doesn't seem that far fetched for a train station to require to see your ticket before you board and if it isn't an appropriate ticket, I assume there will be a place to upgrade it.

First.... If they are taking the Amity Area and turning it into Harry Potter Phase 2 as the rumors are suggesting, It DEFINITELY will be part of the US park and not IOA. Besides the fact that creating a bottleneck in the Hogwarts Express as the only way to access the "distant section" of IOA being incredibly unworkable and stupid.... If they wanted to keep Harry Potter exclusively part of IOA, they could've annexed the remainder of the Lost Continent as people originally expected them too. The primary reason for putting it into the old Amity/Jaws plot would be to help drive guests into US since it hasn't seen the same attendance jumps as IOA. [in turn meaning more multipark and multiday ticket sales].

Second... I kind of doubt they'd get rid of one-park tickets entirely... If nothing more because of the way one day tickets are priced identically between most of the area theme parks.

What i could see as more likely would be the potential elimination of multi-day one-park tickets. Here's the logic behind my thoughts.

Currently every park in the area has their one-day one-park tickets priced around $89. Even (and especially) Disney. The 2 park one-day tickets are a small surcharge above that base cost. Therefore, It would put Universal at a slight disadvantage marketing wise to have their one-day tickets cost more than either Sea World or Disney One-day tickets.... and the accountants would never let them lose out on the extra money they currently make off the 2-day one-park tickets.

What might be more likely to happen to try and avoid guest confusion or hassles on a ticket check at the Hogwarts Express would be to look at Disney's ticket history. Prior to the MYW ticket introduction, All Disney Multiday tickets were Park-Hopper Tickets. You could purchase a one-day one-park ticket, or you could purchase a world passport which included access to multiple parks over multiple days. Universal could very easily adopt this older ticketing policy and thereby tell guests You can either access 1 park on one day, Or all the parks over multiple days.

At the Hogwarts stations, it would then simplify the ticket checks since if a customer has a multiday ticket, then they get to ride the express. If they only have a one day ticket, they'd need to upgrade to a multiday ticket.

The other option might be to allow guests at the Hogwarts station with a one-day ticket to purchase a "Hogwarts Express ticket" that just happens to cost the same amount as the park-hopper surcharge for existing one-day tickets.

This is obviously all conjecture on my part with nothing concrete to base it on. I do however expect some changes to happen in the ticket offerings if nothing more to try and help lessen customer confusion, ticket checking delays at the train stations, and potential unhappy guests who don't seem to understand why they can't ride the attraction with their one-park tickets.

Be interested to see what Universals finally say they are doing to be honest. All this speculation is great fun, but would be nice to know for sure :)
I can't imagine what kind of wait times it would have for these trains.

I would have thought it would have made far more sense to use the rest of the Lost Continent for WWOHP. Use Sinbad and Posidon etc. Would have liked to have seen an up dated Poseidons fury in Harry Potter style.

That said if they are trying to get people to go to both parks, I can understand and accept that.. Yea some may think its sneeky. Personally thought I can forgive this because at least Universals are doing stuff to make there parks better and better... I am sorry I can't say the same for Disney. There is a new fantasy land on the way. That is too little too late for me and does not appeal to me anyway :)

If they are planning an in door Gringots ride then I am really excited.. Just hope they make it REALLY fun..

Interesting... I was wondering what they would replace Amityville with. I'm not sure I like them replacing it with Harry Potter, but that could be cool depending on how they do it and how much they add to that area. After all, it was just a single ride before, if they can somehow squeeze two rides in, that would be cool.

I'm thinking it's going to be one ride, a restaurant and some shops. Two rides would be nice...I agree but I think we're only going to get a single ride.

Well....Depends in part on if you classify the Hogwarts Express as a Ride, Or transportation....

(And which park you credit it too)

I'm talking about the new section w/o the train...just the walking around part of HP2.

WOW I totally missed that wall and I was just there last week.

So if the former Jaws/Amity is going to become Diagon Alley and Grigotts...is lost continent going to stay at IOA?? It seems to need some love and refurb.
