Hi Y'all!

Disney maniacs headed for one day at Universal for first time! :cool1: Just doing one day (as add on to Disney cruise)...because we are also Potter maniacs!

Our family of 5 (3 boys - twins 14 and Eldest is 18) will be staying onsite at...Royal Pacific...I think??!!! Whichever was least expensive :confused3

Our plan is to arrive early on Sunday and use the pools (perhaps pool hop among the hotels?), then head for WWHP early the next morning, and spend the whole day at Islands of Adventure.

Suggestions for a restaurant for Sunday's dinner (preferably on Universal property). One restaurant on Monday (either lunch or dinner) at the park? I was thinking 3 Broomsticks. Can you make advance reservations there, or at any of the park restaurants?

Thanks for your input!:goodvibes

Check out the food sticky for menus and reservations info and people's favourites. Three Broomsticks is a counter service restaurant, so no reservations there. Many others do.

There are a TON of great places to eat both at Citywalk and at the Hotels. If you are staying at Royal, our family LOVES Jaks!

As far as the day you are at IOA, I would enjoy a lunch at 3 Broomsticks. We did not really care for the food they had there. It was a let down. It is just a quick service meal and was not what we were hoping for. Some people love it, some people hate it. However, it is part of the HP experince and the theming inside there is really good. The only thing I like from there is the peanut butter-strawberry icecream cup. It was very, very good! Oh, and of course Butterbeer, but you can get that in many different places in the HP area.

For dinner, there are some great options. Again, you could wait until the parks close (or you have had your fill of the park) and eat on Citywalk or at the hotel. Another option would be to eat at Mythos in the park. It has won a few awards for being the best theme park food. It is good. However, with only one day to see everything at IOA, you might want to save dinner until after the parks close to get the most out of your time in the parks. Like I said, Citywalk has a TON of food options. Panda Express and BK Whopper bar if you want something quick. If you want a nice sit down meal, they have Hard Rock Cafe, Pastamore, Nascar grill(?), and many, many more options.

We love Emeril's Tchoup Chop right at the Royal Pacific for dinner.
At the park our favorite is Mythos, but you may not want to take the time for a "sit down" lunch if you only have one day at the parks.

We ate lunch at Finnegan's (at Universal Studios), and it was really good. I actually liked the food more than Epcot's Rose & Crown. Lombard's is supposed to be good but it was closed when we tried to eat there (this was on May 26th). People seem to like Mythos (at IoA), which is right by WWOHP.

Universal has chain restaurants like Hard Rock Cafe, Bubba Gump, etc. at City Walk.

Like someone else said, Three Broomsticks is counter service, so ideal maybe if you wanted to have a quick lunch, which I hear has a lot of British influence on the menu. However, if you want a more relaxed meal, Mythos is excellent, good food and from my experience is a lot cheaper than Disney table service meals.

Head down to CityWalk if you want a wide selection, however, they may interrupt any plans for an entire day spent at the park :)

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. :goodvibes Damos, I'll take a look at the food sticky (thanks!), but I was also interested in folk's answers "if they had only one restaurant...".

And good point, everyone, about probably not wanting to take the time for a full sit-down meal in the park! Hmm...lots to consider....

(and then I told DH about the meal plan....he's all for that! I'm not convinced just yet...:rotfl: )

The food sticky is mainly people's favourites, so you should get some good feedback there.
