One resort guest not using park tix with DP?

We are a group of four adults (parents and two daughters) likely staying in one room at a monorail resort over MLK Weekend 2014. Three of us will visit the parks every day, but the fourth guest (my dad) plans on golfing every day and only eating breakfast/dinner with us at various Disney resorts. I understand that all four guests in the room have to participate in the MYW package in order to use the Disney DP, but does this mean my dad would have to buy tickets that he does not need as part of the package? Or can only three of us purchase park tickets with the package?

We will likely eat at a signature almost every night (plus one or two breakfasts), so thought that the dining plan might make sense as four adults. We obviously wouldn't bother, though, if my dad has to buy into something he doesn't need. :confused3

We are also planning on (hopefully) taking advantage of the RO discount, so can that discount always be combined with the DP?

TIA!

Everyone on the package must have the same ticket. The exceptions are dvc and ap ticketless packages. The ticket can be saved for a return trip as long as it is not used.

Thanks for the info! Wouldn't the ticket have to be used, though, in order to use it for meal credits? If not, would the park ticket last indefinitely or would it expire within a certain timeframe?

We've never even considered the DP before, so sorry if these are all obvious questions. Thanks again!

You would not have to use the park ticket in order to use the meal credits. Those are totally separate. The park ticket will be good until 14 days after it is first used. As long as it is unused, it will be good indefinitely.

Good to know. Thank you very much!

All of you will have to purchase tickets. However, buy the minimum number of days (1 for paid dining, 2 for free dining). After you arrive you can add the number of days you need to 3 of the tickets. As long as your Dad's ticket is not used it will not expire and it can be used by someone else on a future visit if your father doesn't want it.

You can apply a room rate discount if you are paying for the dining plan. If you have free dining or are using any other special offer then you would have to choose the best discount because Disney won't let you stack discounts.

Interesting. It is unlikely that free dining will be released during our dates (wasn't last year), so most likely the 1 day for paid dining would apply here. Would we need to purchase four 1-day park hopper tickets if we want the added days of tickets to be park hoppers for the remaining three of us (as opposed to one park per day)? I assume that the first day has to be the same type of ticket as the days that are added on.

Makes sense. Thanks again!

One more question-- we only get the credits for the number of nights we stay, right? So 5 table service credits for a 5-night stay, for example?

You can upgrade to hoppers once you get there, so getting 1 day base (non-hopper) tickets would be the best bet.

Correct
